car stalls on first start but runs after 2nd start

hi there,

experiencing some difficulties lately with my 09 fx35. this happens rarely in the past but noticing it more frequent lately. I start the car once and the gauges jump like crazy but the car does not start. I start it a 2nd time and the car turns on fine. Has this happened to anyone else? what could this mean? thanks.
 
Id say clean your throtle bodies first & maf sensors with crc maf cleaner. If not it could be a dirty fuel filter not allowing enough pressure to reach the engine therefor causing the initial stall.
 
What I've noticed, and this might be completely different issue than yours, is that if I release the brake pedal and/or let go of the push-start button too quickly, the car won't start-up cleanly. What I'm doing now is I hold in the push-start button in for a half a second longer than normal and not take my foot of the brake pedal until the car has finished turn-over. This problem is really noticeable in colder weather.

Both of my 2nd Gens did this and I think that is normal for our cars. My Nissan Frontier is the same also.
 
Thanks for replies. I read online that "some Nissans/Infinitis have a know issue with the fuel pump drain back valve (it leaks). When the valve malfunctions, the first time you turn the key to "start", instead of fuel being at the engine already, fuel needs time to get to the engine. Which is why it starts on the second try." either the drain back valve or leaky injectors. I'll bring it into a mechanic to have it tested as I still have warranty on the car. Just messed up as this has been happening more frequently. Thanks for the help fellas.
 
Mine has been doing this for a few years didn't know about the fuel pump drain back valve let us know what the mechanic says
 
Try turning the car "ON" but not start , leave it there for 20-30 seconds then initiate the "Start" mode. If that works then I would agree with the drain bck valve theory or dirty fuel filter. Note on the dirty fuel filter = if that was the case you would have engine hesitation when under hard acceleration (WOT) or passing as well!
 
I was going to take it to the mechanic but I thought I would try one of the methods you guys mentioned, holding onto the braked until it completely turns over. Haven't had a issue since using this method, so I'll just stick to that method until something happens. When I do that the car idles at 1500rpm until I throw it into reverse or drive.
