In Hawaii after (I believe) 10 years on the force you are allowed to use your personal car as your patrol car as long as it meets certain department rules. We have all kinds of cars, 4X4s, and allot of SUVs as police vehicles and the hard part for the civilians is that there are NO markings distinguishing it as a police vehicle except for a little removable LED light bar on the roof which looks just like a surf rack if you aren't paying attention.

oh wow that's crazy!

That IS crazy! And kinda awesome! Imagine if you had an FX that represented iS and also Hawaii 5-0!

I don't think that's a cop car those are just vanity plates that they have that go towards charities. Like the firemen plates they have in mass that proceeds go towards fireman foundation.

Hahaha, ok, the light on the roof gives it away that it's a cop car. Luckily this one has the big blue dome so it's easy to spot from a distance, the little led light bars are the ones that are more difficult to spot cause they look like surf racks(quite common in Hawaii)
The vanity plates are regular Hawaii plates.

Oh I did not even see the light when I saw the pic on my phone. Around here any police car that's not a typical police car will be hard to tell apart from a regular until you get close to it and check the lights.
