Hey guys,

Working these days on having a TT on my fx35, did not receive it yet from Gamma but hopefully within couple of weeks. My target Horsepower on wheel is 550 and ll do some re-build to my engine mainly Pistons and RODs due to high milage ( 200k+). Long story short, am thinking of upgrading my braking system and am not sure either to do it or postpond it to later. One guy recommend to me power stop but am not that experts and dont know the good brands. I never heard about this brand. I know EBC, Akbeno ( the most I like but kinda over my budget for the time being), stop tech, etc..

Like to hear from you guys :)

with twin turbos and 550whp i dont think your stock brakes will cut it. I say look into the FX50 bbk or a aftermarket BBK. And before you do your brakes you probably need a tranny upgrade...

Upgrading rotors and pads are not enough for twin turbo with 550whp. At the very least, you need the FX50 OEM Akebono brakes, which have 4 pistons in the front (comparing to the stock FX35 2 pistons). Some have gone up to aftermarket 6 or to even 8 pistons. Eight pistons are excessive, but that's just me.

Like illestFX35 said above, your transmission needs upgrading too. Primary, it needs a cooler.

Oh, you ordered your TT kit from Gamma. Not to burst your bubble, but Gamma is just a rename of GTM Motorsports under "new" owners. GTM filed for bankruptcy last year. It's an interesting read if you have the time:

Don't get me wrong. I don't like to bad mouth anyone. I like to keep the community informed.

When did you place your order?
Please keep us posted when you receive your order.

Yeah I know that GTM went bankruptcy and a gamma is owned by a new guy and that is why they changed the name. I placed the order last week and talk the owner directly and had several talk since a more than a month and he is very cooperative guy. One of my friend just bought from them couple of months back for his 370z stage 2 and he was happy dealing with them.

So am expecting to have them in couple of weeks hopefully.

Agree with you that trans need an upgrade but it is not my agenda for the time being for two reasons
That the trans can handle up to 580 whp and second is that I hated this stupid 7 speed trans, so till it get failed [emoji1] searching for alternative or it might shift to manual speed [emoji48] since it is not a D2D car anymore. Manual with TT is more fun to drive [emoji16]..

Just my opinion, but I don't think that just because you upgrade the engine hp, you automatically need to upgrade the brakes. The physics don't change - stopping from 80mph or 120mph is the same with or without a turbo - you just get to that speed quicker. If you plan on driving more aggressively all the time, sure you'll need better brakes, but that's not a function of more power necessarily.

Upgrading just the rotors is also pointless as well, your braking performance isn't going to change. Pads matter, tires matter, rotors don't matter much at all. It would be much better to save up for an actual big brake kit. Whether that is FX50 or aftermarket depends on your budget. More pistons doesn't mean anything; what matters is how much surface area there is on the pistons, that is what applies clamping force to the pads. More pistons is really just marketing and it may help with pad engagement and brake feel. Note that the reputable high end brake companies don't usually go past 6 much, sometimes 8. But the "show" companies offer 8,10, even 12. You can have 2 piston brakes outperform 6 or 8 piston brakes. Keep in mind that there is a limit to how much fluid your master cylinder can move. If you get brakes that exceed that, you will have a mushy brake pedal and terrible brake balance issues.

No matter how much brake you put on the car, it won't matter if you don't upgrade your tires as well. If you have big brakes and bad tires, you'll just be engaging the ABS all day long.

Good point, I haven't thought of it that way. I guess I feel safer when driving liberally that I can slow down quicker.

Just had a word with the owner of Gamma, Maji. Yes, he did buy GTM and renamed the brand. But Sam (I do not like him) is no longer the owner. GTM always had a great team of mechanics but had a bad owner. My close buddies and I all dealt with GTM and its one sketchy business. Talked to Maji at my local Infiniti dealer and he has his sh*t together right now. And everything sounds good so far. And it is very true that Nissan enthusiasts are very skeptical about them, and to be completely honest with you, I am too. But its good to know that now Gamma is in good hands and we will see how they do in the near future! And we will see if I go built motor and boosted. :)

Thanks for the update. I am completely turned away from Sam when I'm doing research for a twin turbo kit. Let's see in a couple of years how well Gamma do when I'm ready to install turbos.
