Blue and Green antifreeze

Are the Green and Blue Nissan antifreeze backwards compatible? The reason why I'm asking is because I recently got my antifreeze replaced by Rosemberg Nissan but they never filled up the coolant reservoir. The next day I went I noticed that they refilled it with the blue one. Will mixing coolants put any harm on the coolant or engine?

Thanks

Well the original is slightly bluer than your regular aftermarket green. You could just empty your overflow reservoirs green and add some of the original in there. Shoudnt hurt it.

Thanks but today I went to go look at the tank and it looks dark green now so I'm guessing they mixed already. I also got an email from the service advisor and he states that the antifreeze that they used to fill the radiatior was the oem Nissan green antifreeze. But the second time I went to fill up the overflow reservoir they used the blue oem Nissan one. He said their backwards compatible and that I shouldn't have any issues. Should I leave it alone or just have another flush?

my dealer told me I can't mix it. I actually wanted them to use the new kind, but they wouldn't.

Supposedly the blue is backwards compatible with the green. It's a longer life antifreeze but if you mix it with the green, you're basically not going to get the longer life part so there's no point. It's not going to hurt anything. Most new antifreeze is compatible with modern cars and aluminum parts in the engine and cooling system, a lot of the older coolants are not. There is a TSB from Nissan that says it's ok to mix - Google TSB NTB09-040a

It's like Matic S transmission fluid and everyone who says you can't substitute anything else or your transmission will fail...it won't.

I think the thing you can't mix is red with orange, or else it will form sludge, but I think that's for domestic cars.

I have the blue in my car,Not sure why they wouldn't put it your car Jonas, the blue comes pre mixed whereas the green needs to be mixed.

Thanks all for the helpful info. I guess I'll leave it for a while since the antifreeze is less that a 1K miles old.
