best polish for chrome

clean them with eagle 1 NEVER DULL then get mother's chrome polish 
I used to have the OEM 20's and you havent been around enough to know me but I like my car to be clean......

+1 on Mothers Mag and aluminum polish.
i always use never dull on mine. when i get ambitious also, i pull the wheels off and clean behind the spokes and never dull there also. really makes the wheels look sick.
never tried the meguiar's chrome polish as a second step, but, it's hard to argue with jbaker when it comes to this sort of thing lol.

cleaning & shining up the chrome is different from protecting the chrome... if your going to have to go through a harsh winter then waxing the chrome can go a long way towards protecting it... I even know some guys who will smear a thin layer of vasaline on the chrome on there rigs to protect it through the harshest of salt speading & snow & stuff...
aftermarket chrome can be anywhere from pretty damn good to total crap... I've had a lot of aftermarket chrome wheels that one winter season & they were just junk afterwards, rust is a huge problem, polishing & gleaming will do nothing to protect, I'd at least suggest waxing them to help protect them...

For winter protection I put Turtle wax ice sealant on and don't buff it off.
Turbocad what is your choice for protecting your wheels for the winter season. I have used Wheelwax, now Poorboys. I am always willing to try something that may do a better job.

personally I think wheel specific wax is a gimic, it's a way for you to pay more for less by touting it as a speciaty product, where truth is any wax is going to give the same protection weather it's on chrome or paint I think...
my best advice is just to use wax, whatever you use on your paint finish is also good enough for your wheels. like mtn has said, the heavier the build up layer the better, forget about wiping & buffing out a shine, it'll give more protection if it's just applied to a haze & left... I would even cake it up a little heavier in orafices & stuff that would tend to collect salt water, like I cake it inbetween the seem of a 3 piece wheel & around the bolts where rust will always start.. if you cake some way in there it'll protect it much better than if you didn't...
if & when you ever get around to washing them then wash & rinse well then reapply...

I would prefer wheel sealants over wax, due to their durability. Living here in cali, don't know much about snow conditions, but for painted surfaces, at least, sealants last longer. I would think it would be the same for chrome? I use Chemical Guys sealants on my chrome.
good info, I think you made a good point. When I have used up my Wheel sealant I might switch to using Zaino on my rims.

I think the line between a sealant & a wax is pretty blurry to many, technically the only product that should be called a "wax" is strictly a carnuba based product only, where anything not carnuba based is a synthetic polymer & a sealant, not a wax.
synthetic sealants do last much longer, I use a synthetic myself for this, turtle wax's ice too, so yeah, a sealant is better than a wax because it would last much longer, but then again in the winter months it's probably a good idea to wash the wheels & reapply every few weeks anyway, so even a canuba based product can do the job too, but of course there is no benifit to a carnuba based wax on the wheels while there is a benefit with synthetics so yeah, I'm saying wax but meaning whatever you use as wax, even if it's not wax...

well when i wax my car i use clay bar then cleaner wax, sealant, and pure carnabura wax for the top coat..
as for the wheels:
when Ihad the chrome i used never dull and mothers chrome pollish/wax
for my powdercoated i do the same system as the regular paint

I used to run a small boutique detailing business and have been through approximately 10 different chrome polishes. Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Polish is the best I've used on chrome rims.
