Bad wheel bearing!

Ok so I was noticing a grunting or humming noise for a while now (louder with higher speeds) and thought it might be coming from the brakes or engine but it turns out that it was a bad wheel bearing in the front drivers side. It got pretty bad yesterday when I was on the highway and had to pull over like WTF! Anyway I didn't want to risk getting told that it was because of the 24 inch wheels and swapping the wheels back to factory then swapping them back so I just took it to Firestone and had it done. Replaced it with a Timken wheel/hub assembly (199 at autozone) and swapped out the rear pads for Yellow Stuff EBC and got the whole thing aligned in the process. The whole thing ran me around three hundred bucks cuz my boy works there and did it for me. Now its a totally different car. No shimmey on the wheel and quiet as a church mouse pissin on a cotton ball. Just the price we have to pay for running these big wheels I guess.

Must be the wheels

I had a few people tell me before running spacers too makes them go bad eventually because the spacer puts more stress on the hub. Don't know if that's true or not though lol

Yeah I heard that too. The bigger the difference from factory specs the more stress they operate under makes sense. Dude when you gonna throw on some wheels!?

I know it's an old thread, but I am having a front bearing replaced as I type this, 2010 FX50 only 65000km. OEM wheels, just randomly failing parts. My G needed them at 24000km. Replaced 2 on my FX45 at 125000km
