Bad Front Stabilizer (Sway) Bar?

The dealership tells me that the clunk that I'm hearing now is a bad front sway bar. I was already going to replace the end links and bushings, but they say that the bar itself is bad also. Is that normal or even possible? I've searched and I only seem to find posts with people replacing the links and not the bar itself? Anyone else had this issue?

Are the nuts on your end links tightened to spec? If not, it will lead to a clunking noise. Don't know what the torque specs are but i remember that even though it was pretty tight, it still needed additional torquing down to get rid of the clunk noise.

Torque the end links to 75 ft lb. I find it hard to believe the sway bar itself is bad unless it got in a bad accident that bent the bar. Normal driving is hard to bent the bar. Worn out bushing and clamp is most likely.

Yes, I think I will start with the bushings and links. They are saying that one of the round "washer" type things on the sway bar is not welded(?) anymore. I haven't had a chance to look myself yet.

I replaced my bushings, was thinking of polyurethane bushings, but stayed with OEM since I have enough GTSpec pieces to stiffen the car up.

I think the purpose of the "washer" is to keep the bar from sliding left/right. I'll say take it to a exhaust shop and them them spot weld the washer back to where it suppose to be instead of buying a new sway bar for that reason.

Excellent idea. Thanks.

I'm looking to replace the front stabilizer links in my 07 fx35. I found this part number for the fronts # 54617CG000. Is this number the same for both sides? Another question is that what is the part numbers for the rear stabilizer links? I think i found the part but when i click it says not avail.
