Auto RELOCK Setting

Hello all,

I just bought myself a CPO 2006 FX35 Sport, Black/Black with 30K miles, BOSE w/out NAV. I've had it about 2 weeks now and I've noticed a few issues.

For some reason my Auto Relock function is not working. I've tried setting it to both the 1min and 5 min option but my doors never lock or relock at all. Also, the menu (i dont remember which) to set the auto relock timer sometimes doesnt appear on the menu at all. One minute its there, next minute its not!

My question is,

Am I misunderstanding this setting? I assumed it would lock my doors after 1min/5mins once I'm in the car and driving. Or if I unlock the door to get out for a second to open a gate or check the mail that it would relock the doors after 1min.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'd appreciate any information or suggestions you may have. Thank you in advance.

there have been issues with that system on a few FXs, including mine. I have mine set to lock automatically when I get out of the car and walk away and is used to work about 25% of the time. After I replaced the battery on both the Car and the i-key it works about 50% of the time lol.......
As for the locking-while-you-drive if you are not happy with the factory system you can visit http://www.kptechnologies.com/ where you will find a module that can control the locking mechanisms while you drive.....or you can get the stock system to work correctly haha

If you want the doors to lock themselves after you've gotten out of your car, you'll need to install an aftermarket alarm system or such. The auto relock feature in the FX is meant to lock the doors once you've unlocked it and do NOT open a door.

That's a myth, no?

Comforting though it may be to imagine you can unlock your car door in an emergency by receiving a distant signal via your cell phone, it can't possibly work — not with the technology as it presently stands, at any rate. Here's why:
Your remote car key operates by sending a weak, encrypted radio signal to a receiver inside the automobile, which in turn activates the door locks.
Since the system works on radio waves, not sound, the only conceivable way a signal from your spare remote could be picked up by one cell phone and relayed to your car's onboard receiver by another would be if both phones were capable of sending and receiving at exactly the same frequency as the remote itself - which they can't be, given that all remote entry devices operate at frequencies between 300 and 500 MHz, while all mobile phones, by law, operate at 800 MHz and higher.
It's apples vs. oranges, in other words. Your cell phone can no more transmit the type of signal needed to unlock a car door than your remote key is capable of dialing up your Aunt Mary ... though no one can predict what miracles the future may bring.

Hello all,

It will disappear if the car is moving - safety feature so you are not trying to adjust menu settings while driving. Check the menu when parked with the car on.

As others have pointed out - it's not an auto lock, it's a re-lock, used only if you are driving and unlock the doors. If no door is opened in 1 minute (depending on setting) then the doors should re-lock. I've always had this off - never thought it would be convenient enough to use.

It's so lame. I had my car running, got out to get something in the garage, then got locked out. I can see it being useful if the car was moving, but surely not at a standstill.
Stupid engineers

Can someone clarify this for me lease, because my car go broken into last night. But no sign of forced entrance. That led Me to this thread either when I walked out of the car last night I didn't lock it and it doesn't lock by it self or they found my valet key with the remote control that I lost 2 days ago. I need your input before I go spend 1000 in deductible so I can getting car rekeying and reprogrammed. Weirdest thing is I don't notice anything missing just everything all over the place and all comparments open. Which has me worried.

The auto relock is for when the car is locked and parked. If you then hit the unlock button on the keyfob and do NOT open a door, the fx will relock itself in that set time frame.
