Do you guys think it would be ok to use a 275/55/20 tire? I want to correct the speedometer and odometer because they are a bit high when comparing to my gps. The overall diameter will be 31.90 inches and that is a 4.61% difference. My FX35 is AWD if that matters. Would this also give me better mpg since I'm traveling farther for each rotation?

Are you wanting to install these on the stock wheels? I would think the stock wheel/tire combo is the most accurate. But if you wanted to use the tires you mentioned I don't see a problem with it except for the fact your speedo will be off as you stated.

Are you proposing to use larger tires in order to correct your speedometer? I would make sure of which one is actually correct (speedo or gps) before doing anything like that. Consumer grade GPS units for cars aren't exactly the most accurate devices in the world...
AWD only matters if the tires are of different outer diameters front to rear.
This one could go either way. On one hand, larger diameter tires are heavier (most of the time) and harder to accelerate, so your mileage would likely decrease slightly around town. On the other hand a larger tire will allow lower rpms at a given speed, so you may get a slight increase in mileage on the freeway.
I remember reading a thread about this problem on the org. It seemed like the easy solution was to get taller tires but I'm not sure if anyone has actually done it. So I'm wondering if this tire size would be ok.

sidewall is up by 20 mm, wheels are further out with 20 mm spacers
and car's gonna be down 1.5" on eibachs.

As long as you don't mind a taller sidewall, them seem pretty good.
And yeah, our speedo's are off a bit. Mine now reads 5-6 mph slower with current tires, but it was always a little slower before. Best way to check is watch the mileage compared to mile markers on an interstate.

i took a ruler and measured, and the total gap was like a little more than 3 cm.
i think that's gonna invite some rubbing against the well.
i have found 285/50/20 a better option since the gap increases due to lesser sidewall.

The 275/55 has a sidewall height of 151.25 cm. The 285/50 is 142.5 cm. Not sure how stretching of the tread will affect it but probably won't. So only .9 cm of a difference.
