anyone heard of leather painting for our fx?

I was down at ny queens junkyard today to do some repair on my 05 fx 45
I just got it and my previous owner i think was a giant 9ft 1000lbs TT
my leather is a mess crack/rip driver side and shoulder line pad all cracked
and the middle armrest all faded....

well there was 1 shop that did reupholster and when i went for a quote for front 2 seats and armrest re leathering.he quoted me $700. now i was hesistant so he told me he can repair the ripped part and just repaint the leather making it look new for 400.

HAve you ever heard of this leather repainting with special paint? hmmmmm
also how good does this work or for how long i may be able to keep it clean....
This is a junkyard there are like 200 shops right next to each other.... these guys ar notthe most professional looking guys.... is this a scam? or is 400 a pretty good deal...

700 for leather is cheap. I had mine replaced under warrenty because the dealership painted it and it flacked and peeled. They said the cost of the oem leather was almost 8 grand once all was said and done. dont paint it, you drive an Infiniti not a honda

I would go for the re upholstery.

They can dye it which is fine. Will it be a perfect match, probably not. But it can be done. It's not like they're spray painting it.
