He Guys,

I have been looking the internet for a while for some info to connect a MP3 player or something to my sound system.
But i can't find anything about is so maybe someone here can tell me.
Because i am getting fed up with this f*cking around with cd's so i was thinking if it is possible to fit a memory stick or an mp3 player that is connected to the aux line of the radio.
Is anything like this possible for my 03 FX35?

you didnt search well enough
there's a few ways to do it, for example, you can get something like the Harmon Kardon Drive 2 play that utilizes the Car's AUX 2 input, so when you set it to setting B you press SAT and it plays your iPOD.
THere's other applications but thats just one...

So what you say that there is a useable IN line on the radio?
What kind of plug/connection is this?
Anyway good that there is an option to just plug it in something existing then modify half the radio or wiring.

Preferbly i like to use something with a USB stick, i had a ipod but it is for sure not my favorite type of music player....

Thx for your reply.

Search is your friend. There are so many out there. I have the GROM Audio. It play from an USB drive directly, regular 3.5mm headphone jack for regular mp3 player, or input for IPod. In Ipod mode, it cannot control the Ipod, you have to control your Ipod via the Ipod player.

Thx for the links.
I found out now i will not be able to order this somewhere in Holland so i will have to refer to the US.....
But for what reason you need so much connectors??
I was expecting 1 or a simple jackplug, but not a complete harness:eek:

Thx again!

I had a look for the aux adapter from Grom, it says you supposed to have "CAT" standing on the radio somewhere on the front but i don't have it on mine.
I assumed having the button Sat next to the AM/FM and CD buttons was all you need but now i am not sure this is going to fit mine.:frown:
How do i know for sure this will work??

If you're referring to the GROM, it really just one "Y" cable. One end of it goes to the back of the head unit which you will be unplug a cable from, then plug the disconnect plug from the head unit to one of the leg on the "Y" cable and the last leg goes to the the GROM and then connect the red wire to a constant on 12v to power the GROM box. That's all the wiring.

I'm pretty sure the GROM require the SAT capable radio to work. You mean your OME Bose system doesn't have SAT button next to the TAPE button? If that's the case, GROM won't work for you.

Ok, so there is a cable already in the head unit wich need to be reconnected on the Y-cable, and as you say, one back in the head unit and the last in the adaptor.
I do have the SAT button on the radio but on some sites they talk about a CAT button/sign wich i can not find but most likely they mean the SAT button in this case.
I found some links from "local" sellers of these things (mainly advertised for Nissan), have a look if this is what i need.
Saves me ordering it from the US and waiting for a couple of weeks.

Now just hope this language makes any sence for you guys:laugh:

Cool. Among the two, I would buy the one from autosound.nl simply because it plays USB drive. Not sure if this would display the song, album, or artist on the head unit. I know the GROM does. From the pic, both will work for the FX.

Your English is just fine. No problem in understand you.

I agree, besides that the one from ebay is for ipod, just want a usb connection and i can connect anything i like!
I will try yo get some more information about this from autosound because there is no info at all on the website about specs etc.

Good to hear my writing is understandable, but i was mainly refering to the dutch and german website:laugh:

I send an email to them asking for some info before spending around 225 dollar....
Wait and see what they can tell me about it,i would like to know if i still can use the radio/steering wheel to change songs etc.
If so i think i will get the usb version and stick a harddisc on it with music.

Now i also start to look for some kind of tool to hook up on the OBD2 plug to retrieve any extra info like oil temp and stuff because i really miss this kind of stuff, especially with this car.
Full of luxery but no options to see what is going on under the hood..

With the GROM, the steering wheels controls cannot change songs or folder. It can only be done via the head unit using the SEEK/TRACK button to change songs, the TUNE/ REW FF button to change folder.

Ok,so lets say you have a few folders on a usb stick with different styles of music, you can just jump from one folder to the other and it also tell you the name of the folder on the display of the head unit?

Oh, and maybe for someone interestedi found this:

http://www.vi-performance.com/

A bit pricy for such a tool but we will see

No the GROM will not display the folder name, it only display the artist and the name of the song. I suppose, you can always customize tagging the mp3 so that you know which folder you're playing.

Allright, that is clear...thanks for clearing that up for me.
Today i got a email back from this company, they told me the one they have for Nissan does not fit Infiniti and after some research he could not find anything at all for me.
So according me i will be best of by purchasing one from the US.....again something i can be jalous at with you guys in the states, here is nothing to buy for Infiniti.

At least i can be proud of driving the only Infiniti from my village:tongue (2):

I will do a little more research here in Europe and after i will see how to get one across the big bath tub:biggrin:
