Activate Welcome and Farewell Lighting

Hello,

I just got my 2020 QX-80 Luxe, and the manual (pg. 02-68; and, 03-11) says there are "welcome" and "farewell" lighting features which turn on the puddle light (under the outside mirrors) and interior lights when you approach your locked car.

I've followed the procedure on page 02-68 multiple times, and in multiple ways, and cannot get the "welcome" or "farewell" lights to work.

I contacted the dealer, and they said they are only on certain vehicles and mine is not one of them. However, I think they are talking about the under-carriage lighting which is an option. Dealer said it would cost me $600 for the "welcome" lights. Nowhere in my manual does it call these an "option", or use the words "if so equipped", like it does in other places.

Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know how to "activate" them ????

For my FX/QX70 I have the welcome lights where the dome lights and puddle under mirror comes on when you approach the vehicle with your key. I do not have a farewell light, maybe the farewell is the turning off or fades after.

just remember though when programming you must hear that chime else it wasn’t a success.

It’s in the manual. I found this for the fx50 manual, most likely it’s the same for yours. Worth a try

To activate or deactivate the welcome light function, perform the following procedure. Note that the function is set to disabled as the factory default setting.
1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Open the driver’s side door.
3. Push the door handle request switch on the driver’s side door handle for more than 5 seconds with the driver’s door open.
4. A chime sounds when the setting is completed.
