Hey

i am replacing the bose amps and bose speakers in a 2008 fx45. using a rockford 5 channel amp with a dedicated subwoofer channel.

ive read through the "adding amp to existing bose sub" and ironchef's thread, along with the wiring diragrams, the FSM, and every other possible avenue, but have not seen an answer to this. if i did see it, my electrical/wiring knowledge is too limited to grasp it.

So the bose HU has 4 low level outputs to the main amp - its then bullshitted into six output channels (FF, FR, RR, RL, Center, Sub). I understand that a full range signal, which in this case is a summing of the RR and RL channels, is then sent from the bose speaker amp to the bose sub amp, where it hits a low pass filter, then to the sub.

So here is my question, and forgive me if this is stupid, but i couldnt figure out the answer.

I have 4 low level inputs to my 5 channel amp - obviously missing the input for the sub. how the **** do i combine create the input for the sub? is it as simple as using an RCA Y adapter for each the RL and RR inputs so i have 2 male RCA's for each?

I tried using the Y RCA adapters and for whatever reason, it did not work. I used a PAC AOEM NIS2 to add RCA outputs to the head unit. Then I split the rear output to the amplifier using the Y's. I was running a 5 channel amplifier and the sub just wouldn't play right. I was getting a ton of interference and I'm pretty sure it was the split that was doing it. Once I pulled them, the rear speakers played clearly. I never bothered troubleshooting the issue and gave up. I've used Y's in the past on other setups and they worked well.

which amp is it? could you select the sub channel to get the signal from the rear inputs on the amp?

unfortunately not - thats exactly what i thought of also. its rockford fosgate r600x5.

regarding the pac adapter, not doing it.

anyone else?

i think i found the resolution. precision power 900.5 amp.

from the manual:

"choose 4 channel for 4 channel input. This allows for independent front and rear RCA inputs, and the subwoofer signal is taken from the rear inputs.

Right, I wasn't suggesting the PAC, it really didn't work for me. And the Y didn't work for me, but it might work for you (it may have been some weird combo from the PAC and the splits). In theory splitting the rear signal should work. On a previous car, I split outputs because I was individually amplifying my front stage (1 amp per door component set). I don't know what other options you have other than buying a processor. People typically just add subs and tap the sub output from the Bose amp. But if you don't have that, I don't know what other solutions there are.
