I mean.. it only happens when I use the manumatic. When in automatic, I don't have a single "clunk" problem; well, except for the ABS testing thing.

I rarely downshift to 2, because it feels hard. But when I do, I wait till the RPM is at 1.2k and lower.

I recently bought a 2006 Infiniti fx35 AWD with 49,000km (Canadian), and I love it. I've been driving the car for about a month now, and just recently noticed the 2nd-3rd gear shudder.

I've noticed the shudder to 3rd gear is reduced/non existent when relative to how I'm pressing on the accelerator on automatic mode.

I've noticed on Manumatic mode, the car has a very very mild thud when shifting to 3rd gear. I've read a lot of threads/posts on this and other forums, just wondering if anyone who's been experiencing the same symptoms have the issue worsen leading to repairs.....or if this is absolutely considered normal and not to worry about it.

I would appreciate any thoughs and suggestions.

I have an 08 FX35 AWD, and does the exact same thing, clunk from 2-3 in manual mode. Brought it to the dealership and was told it's normal on 5ATs, and not to change the tranny fluid. There are no TSBs on this too.
 
Yup, same here. I brought the it to the dealership as well, and explained the symptoms to the Tech (Whom I noticed had about 8 years of experience as a Tech with Infiniti). He said that it was normal, and not to worry about it.

I changed the tranny fluid, only because I had recently bought the car, and I think it may have been sitting for a while......seeing that it's an 06 with under 49 000km on it.

No drivability issues thus far, only annoying at this point.

LEGZ, how long have you had your truck, and since when did you notice the shudder/thud??
 
Bought the car in 2010, it's an US spec, noticed the thud during the test drive, but still bought it lol
 
Hello fellow FX’ers.
Not trying to brag about it but this is my second FX and I neverhad this issue until a couple weeks ago. My issue isn’t just 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]-3[SUP]rd[/SUP]gear but at times it’ll happen from 1[SUP]st[/SUP]-2[SUP]nd[/SUP] gear andtwice this week when I was braking from 40 mph to 0 it did the thump, quickjerk feel (every time it happens it’s in automatic mode). I’d say it’ll happen twoout of ten times when I drive the car and it’s always been on local roads ratherthan highways.
Has this happened to anyone else while braking?

I get this slight clunk in manual mode more so than in automatic. Always 2nd to 3rd. After it warms up the clunk pretty much stops happening.
