Just got back from a 3200+ mile round trip from Columbus Ohio to Billings Montana in My 2010 FX35. And boy are my eyes tired, but my butt and back feel great. The whole trip took 4 days. I took the northern route there(ohio-Indy-Ill-Wisc-Minn-S.Dak-Montana) and the southern route on the way home(Montana-Wyo-S.Dak-Iowa-Ill-Indy-Ohio). I was going to stop at Mt.Rushmore, but after a few beers and some BBQ ribs at Sturgis, I decided the 3 hour detour would be better spent in Sturgis :eek.:
I did register my "new" car while I was in Billings. Boy, was I suprised they had no sales tax.
1 month earlier I had drove a 15 hour marathon to VA to pick up my FX so that was a good warm up.
I did do an oil change as soon as I got home(5W30 mobil 1). Plan to do my Diffs sometime this week and will have my Tranny, P.Steering and coolant checked just for peace of mind!!
STATS:
1.) Miles-3279
2.) Length-4days
3.) Average MPG-21.9
4.) average speed-69.8 MPH
5.) State traveled through-12
6.) Other FX's spotted- 2
7.) Definition of Infinit"Y" - Driving through South Dakota
What I liked about my FX35:
1.) The seats are second to none. I experienced absolutely no back pain or discomfort. I drove about 900 miles a day(some days more, some less) for 4 days straight.
2.) AC seats are more useful than one might think. No sweaty back, keeps you awake when tired and can prolong a reststop pee break by at least an hour :rotfl:
3.) Nav system worked flawlessly. I had the same nav in my g35 so I was used to it. I really like how it displays the current speed limits. When I needed gass, I just hit the menu button and chose gas(I am partial to shell, mobil or BP).
4.) No issues/Malfunctions at all. The temp gauge was glued to the same line(a couple below half) through the 12 hour trips even in 102 degree temps.
5.) The XM radio was a life saver. I tuned into the comedy channels, Fox news and the time just seemed to cruise right by. You can get a 6 months subscriptions for $25 by just calling the number on your xm screen and ask for it. No begging or anything(no weather or traffic, but I have been told that is pretty much over rated.
6.) Plenty of cargo room for me and 1 other. Maybe not enough for a family, but perfect for me.
7.) My new tires were amazing and quiet. I am super impressed with them. (Toyo Versado CUV's)
What I feel fell short on my FX35:
1.) While in cruise going up a mild incline, the car would down shift twice and rev in the upper 3k's. If I went up the hill without the cruise this didn't happen.
2.) Not really the cars fault, but the gas mileage really sagged through SD and Iowa. I am attributing that to the gas as I believe they had more ethanol and it was all 91octane.
3.) I discovered I have the possessed drivers side mirror. Should be a tsb on that IIRC.
Self portrait of some ugly dude

The Beast that made it all possible!!

The start of the Journey:

Billings from top of Rimrock

Getting damn close:

Sturgis- Yep, it is cool. I missed Bike week by a couple weeks though.

My Bucket list of states:
Gray=Been there done that
Blue=Need to do that
