I purchased a used 2005 AWD FX45 in early 2009 with 24K on the odometer. It is the diamond graphite sport edition with brick interior. I'm a big fan of this car and I am very happy with my decision. I recently hit 30K miles and needed to do the service. I went to the Nissan dealer (Infiniti service- Infiniti dealer closed down in Santa Monica) and I was told the service would be around $650.00. Fluids would be replaced if necessary and the transmission fluid would be drained but not flushed (costs quite a bit more because of the amount of fluid required for the flush).
I then took my FX to another location where I usually get my oil changed. The manager offered to inspect my car for free. He took off all the wheels, inspected the brakes, checked all the fluids and wrote up an estimate. Discoveries...
I had a rear disk that was cracked on the inside from someone leaving the e-brake on while driving. The part and installation of it was $120.00/side and considering the disks were rusty and both compromised I decided to replace both. I also needed to replace the drum style e-bakes on the inner rears.
We looked at the transmission fluid and it was a dark gray color so I asked what the mechanic recommended. He suggested flushing it properly and replacing all the fluids - cost is about $340.00. I know this seems expensive, but just draining it would not have properly removed most of the old fluid. I intend to keep the FX for a while so I decided to go ahead and do it. I also replaced the rear differential fluid, the belts (2), and replaced all the filters (air, cabin, oil). I had synthetic oil put in and installed some new wipers.
All in all I paid 1000 for everything, but I am happy I did. My FX is so much smoother now and considering I was going to spend 650 anyway, I am pleased with the route I took. I detailed it yesterday and I'm headed for Mammoth this weekend with confidence and excitement.
Just thought I'd share my 30K process.
