2nd gen BBK upgrade: KIDO, AP Racing by Stillen, FX50 Akebono, D2 racing

Well the akebono are sports brakes, they are not really considered BBK from what I have read
 
They're not a BBK formally, they're just the sport brakes for the G/Z and the only brake for the FX50. The official part number should be D1060-JL00J. The non sport part number is very similar and if you pull up the sites they list them side by side with 2 diagrams on the same page much of the time so it's confusing. If you search for FX50, the pads don't show at all, just the hardware kits. He was probably looking at the 5-6 versions for the G. But the instant you look at the diagram it should be clear what part # to use, I think he was just lazy.
 
He was like well your pads depend on what year they got the sports brakes from. I was like ok thanks I will figure it out myself bc what your saying makes no sense.

Didn't the 09 FX50 have the regular and the FX50S versions? I thought the AKEBONO's were only on the S version and the smaller brakes were on the regular FX50...
 
Bumping this up since it's the latest thread I can find on point.
I really want to get the Akebono kit for my '15 QX70S.

What's clear:
- Akebono calipers F/R
- FX50S rotors and pads F/R, OEM or aftermarket (I will likely do Centric blanks with Stoptech street/perf pads)
- Trim dust shields F/R

What's not clear to me:
- What hardware is needed?
- Are SS lines needed, or just the banjo bolt? I won't do the lines unless it makes the install easier.

Wondering if I can piece it together for less than the $2K CZP is asking for now. Thanks!
 
Any slotted disc upgrade with new pads will feel better than worn out OEM sets.

Unless you’re tracking regularly why spend $5000 for a $400 brake job?

Guaranteed we stop better than 90% of the suvs on the road already.

I’m cheap I put duralast on my 200,000 mile first gen, and they were great.
 
I'm trying to source the bbk upgrade as well. Can someone clarify the stock 20 inch wheels fit without spacers with the bbk? someone on another post said they have 25mm spacers but didnt say if it fits without.
also anyone just do the fronts?

Yes, the front wears out twice as fast.
 
ok just finished the install on my 2013 fx37. to clear up a few things....
reused all oem brake lines. used 4 new banjo bolts from z1. the fronts were extremely easy. just had to bend the shield back. the rears were a pain, had to cut the shield. no spacers at all with the oem 20" wheels, clears fine.
i pieced my set together for about 800 bucks max. new rotors, new pads, and a used set of akebonos.

So
I’ll get new Centric rotors and Stoptech street pads (or equivalent) for an FX50, and banjos from Z1. Ill keep my 3.7 lines since there’s <30K on them. And for the calipers, any Infiniti Akebono will fit up? As in brackets or carrier specs are the same across the models (G, FX, etc)? That would make this easier than I understood. I wonder if FX50 dust shields are a cheap and easy alternative.

I got my calipers from circle Infiniti on eBay. They were much cheaper then they are now and all you really needed to remove was the break dust shield since you are getting bigger rotors. I never ended up swapping them and just had the mechanics cut them in order for the calipers to fit.
 
Finally ordered banjos/washers from Z1. Looking for a deal on calipers, best price I've found new is like $1050 shipped. Even used they're in the $650+ range. Will then pull the trigger on new ST rotors and ST street pads from TireRack.

*Ended up getting new calipers and hardware from Autodesigns out of Brooklyn NY on eBay for $1050 shipped, nice seller with good communication.
Calipers 1050, rotors 550, pads 125, banjos and fluid 50, labor probably 250... annnnd it's a $2K upgrade.
