Hey im buying wheels with tires online and I dont know much about tire sizes and all. But I am between two sets and im am not sure which will fit better.
235/40 R22 or 265/35 R22

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

My mistake i should have been more specific. The wheels that im buying already come with tires. One set is 235/40 R22 and the other set is 265/35 R22. Since i like both wheels about the same I want to make my decision based on how well the wheel/tire set will fit on my fx35.

Those both are probably bad sizes, but the 265/35 would be at least decent. Did these come off a smaller vehicle? We use larger tires than cars.

Are the wheels 5x114.3 bolt pattern?

Chargers have 5x115 bolt pattern. It's quite possible the Charger was running a wheel with a bolt 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

Do you want to take that risk?

Personally, I would feel more comfortable buying a 5x114.3 wheel that came from a vehicle with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

Im not positive if its of a charger, i think thats what the guy said. But it is 5x114.3 bolt pattern. My only concern is if the tires are big enough and if ill regret getting the 256/35/22. I think things like speedometer error, potholes, and wheel well gap are all issues. I just want to know if they will be big enough issues that will make me regret having bought these.

Just curious...
What's the width of the wheel 22x?
Offset?
Center bore diameter?
How much thread is left?
What brand wheels and tires are they?
And what kind of a deal are you getting?

Honestly im not really sure. There is a lot of thread left and he assured me they will fit my car, he ever said hell put the wheels on for free. I really like the way they look and price is 1300. My only hesitation is the tire size.

I would get all the exact information about the wheels/tires before buying. Once you do that, figure out for yourself how they will fit, or post the info here. Don't just go off the info the seller is giving you, after all, he wants the wheels gone. I would copy paste what N2FX said and send it to the seller.

I know tire size is you're main concern but...

if it's not a good offset... you'll end up buying wheel spacers = $$
if the center bore is larger than 66.1 than you'll need hub rings = $
if the tires are balding than you'll need new tires = $$$
you might also need new lugs = $
And no one knows what happens to a 5x114.3 wheel fitted on a 5x115 bolt pattern.

So the $1300 deal can cost you more down the line.

At that price range...save a little more and just buy something new.
