Can somebody tell me why a 2015 qx70 up to 2017 fuel filler neck doesn't fit my 2011 fx35
The fuel filler necks for the 2011 fx35 are discontinued
I'm asking because i have a vapor leak changed the canister the two valves the only thing left is the filler neck and the rubber hoses

Hi! Hopefully some of this helps.

I did some digging and there's variations of the fuel filler neck depending on vehicle production date but this is what I gather. I don't know what the differences are between the FX35 and the QX70 parts but if they were interchangeable then they would share the same numbers. But there is always a chance that whatever change they made for the QX70 could still work for the FX35 but unless someone has both in their hands, it's hard to say. Part numbers usually change when there is a design change or its being made at a different factory.

2011 FX35 AWD 3.5L

17221-1WW0A (Discontinued) Production date: 09/2010 - 09/2011
17221-1WW0C (Discontinued) Production date: 09/2011 - 06/2012

2015 QX70 AWD 3.7L
17221-1CX0A (Available) Production date: 05/2013 -

17221-6WW0A (Available) Production date: 03/2015 -

Which part number were you told is discontinued?

I did a quick search and I see lots of places that have these parts available. Infiniti parts websites, ebay, etc. But always good to check.

I looked at the other parts surrounding the fuel filler neck and the big hose that goes from the fuel filler neck to the fuel tank is the same part number. The fuel tanks somewhat overlap in part numbers. The fuel lines from the gas tank, canister to the fuel rail have the same part number.

Usually when there's a leak, I perform a pressure test on every single component along the way. This is usually done by blocking off both ends of something and pressurizing it slightly (just to prevent it from rupturing). I have a air pressure gauge attached. Pressure, record pressure, let it sit for some time and see if the pressure changes. If there's a pressure loss and I can submerge the component/part in water, I do to see where the leak is. Other option is if someone has a smoke machine that pressurizes the fuel tank and let's the smoke travel where the leak is and then you can visually see it. Or use soap and water and see where the gas is escaping. I know this seems cumbersome but with leaks there's the option of replacing everything along the way (expensive) or finding where the leak is. Because we live in the salt belt, I've used rubberized undercoating, epoxy paint and rust proof on my vehicle to keep it from getting rusted. The fuel filler neck is behind the rear driver side wheel well cover. Safe in a way but with salt and water and time, it may corrode but these types of parts they usually use good paint. Have you done a visual check?

Here's some thoughts...
- Have you had the fuel cap checked/changed? I changed mine a few months ago and the onboard computer says my mileage went from 14.7L/100km to 13.1L/100km consistently.
- A good mechanic should have the ability to check the fuel cap and be able to pressurize the fuel tank from the fuel filler neck and listen for a hiss or smell for a leak. I've seen people use smoke to find the leak as well.
- Have you checked the fuel filler hose (big hose between fuel tank and fuel filler neck big tube)?
- Have you checked the fuel breather hose (small hose between fuel tank and fuel filler neck small tube)?
- Have you checked all the evap hoses including the one between the fuel tank and canister?
- Is there a leak between the fuel pump and fuel tank (passenger side of tank, accessible under rear seat)? there's a big silicon o-ring there. I think they upgraded from rubber to silicone (silicone is blue in color)
- Is there a leak between the fuel sender and fuel tank (driver side of tank, accessible under rear seat)? there's a big silicon o-ring there as well.
- Do you smell gas anywhere specifically on the vehicle?
- Any gasoline leaking on any part? Either from hoses, fuel tank, fuel filler hose?
- If there is a leak where gasoline usually passes through, you'll see gas leaking out. With or without engine running. Maybe when filling fuel, there's fuel leaking down the filler tube.

fuel cap is changed oem brand-new new canister purge vale new valve on the back of the motor also new all OEM nissan and still have a very very tiny leek
17221-1CA0A (Discontinued)
17221-1WW0C (Discontinued)
Part Number: 17221-1CX0A i have this one got it from ebay new from Israel and my mechanic told me it doesn't fit i asked why it doesn't fit he told me the vent tube is not the same diameter every thing else is okay i asked isn't there an adapter hose or fitting something guess not as far has i know the fuel tanks are still the same with the same exact connectors checked ebay photos diferent second gen year models and they look the same
went to my local nissan infiniti dealer to order one four days later they call me back with the bad news and gave me a refund

Looking at this more, if I'm not mistaken, all you now need is the revised breather tube part number 17338-1BA2A.

From what I can see between the 2011 and 2015+ is that they changed the fuel filler neck (which you have) and they also changed a short breather tube between the fuel filler neck and the long hard tubes that run along the underside of the car. The breather tube you have now is 17338-1BA0C but then they moved over to a new number which I speculate is a different design which would fit the new fuel filler neck you have now, that short breather tube number is 17338-1BA2A. I also checked the long hard breather tube that runs along the bottom of the car to the engine. There are only two numbers for those and those two numbers existed for the 2011 all the way up for the 2017. Those numbers are 17338-1CA0B and 17338-1CH0A. If the only breather tube (17338-1BA0C) worked on both the 17338-1CA0B and 17338-1CH0A long hard lines before the change, then the new short breather tube 17338-1BA2A should work without issue but my ability to verify all this is limited because there's no photos I can use to validate it but it makes sense.

One thing I noticed with Nissan/Infiniti is that sometimes they make design changes that involve multiple grouped parts and if you replace parts surrounding a design change it bolts up without issue. It requires more parts but doesn't put you at a total loss unless the car is realllllly old.

Just to paint a picture...the short breather hose is the bolded one below.
Fuel filler neck -> Fuel hose -> Fuel tank
Fuel filler neck -> Short breather hose -> Long breather tubes -> valves near engine

thanks for your helpful input so if i order this short breather tube (17338-1BA2A) it should work for this (fuel filler neck 17221-1CX0A)
thanks again for your hard work

anytime! That breather tube isn't super expensive so it's worth a shot. I wish I had access to the parts to verify them but this is probably as close as we can get to solving this. Fingers crossed!!

unfortunately i order that part and this is the answer i got today from Infinitipartsdeal

Thank you for ordering parts with us.
We are writing to inform you that order VI2486993 has been voided. Your order has been voided because of the following reason(s): The ordered part(s) have been discontinued (no longer available) and/or is backordered with no ETA date by the manufacture.

this really sucks

I'm going to say it's most likely backordered because there's no way they won't have a part especially for cars that are still relatively new (QX70 2017) They have to carry parts for a minimum of 10 years. Have you tried the local dealer? I've been surprised before where a local dealer was able to get a part that was otherwise stated discontinued/backordered elsewhere. Do you know if the breather tube you have has removal ends? Sometimes these breather tubes have removal ends that can be swapped to fit in a new end. They're those quick connect types.

Hey just a heads up you should check Genuine Japanese Car Part Imports - Amayama they offer OEM parts from Japan at great prices, and will often have parts that are NLA in the US. Looks like they have the breather tube but not the filler neck.

Unless your car is super rusty, I'd guess that the odds your neck is causing the leak are pretty low. Much more likely that a rubber hose has degraded or loosened up a bit. Don't forget to get new clamps!

thanks for the info but i already ordered the filler neck rubber hose from my local infiniti actually i ordered from two different places lets see witch one shows up first
me to i have droughts that the problem is the filler neck I'm sure the problem is a hose somewhere leaking but they did do a smock test and didn't see nothing the next expensive part left is the pressure sensor
my last option would be ordering it from JAPAN thanks

so my local infiniti finally got my breather tube (17338-1BA2A) but now how is it suppose to connect on my new filler neck is there a special connector that goes from small to a bigger diameter or is it just a rubber hose
or is it missing that

Hey! sorry, got held up with stuff. So that breather tube connects to the smaller pipe on the fuel filler neck and the other side connects to the fuel tank. Each end is supposed to clip in. The tube is plastic. The bigger pipe on the fuel filler neck connects to the fuel tank with that big rubber hose.

Btw your photo is not showing. Photos would help!

as you can see there's a special connector on the breather tube and the breather tube (17338-1BA2A) that i got from my local infiniti didn't come with that connector and for this fuel filler neck 17221-1CX0A) i need this hose
HOSE-VENTILATION
Part number: 17226EG010

The tube that you received from Infiniti...is it made of plastic or rubber and do the ends have that ribbing on the ends? That's usually how those ends hold on the tube

it is made out of metal with the expanded rings to be inserted into a rubber hose and a clamp as you can see on this picture part #17226+A connects with 2 hose clamps to part #17224N and with another rubber hose and clamps connects to the fuel tank

without getting into it too much, there's just a few more parts left to build this out. Looks like they ran away from the plastic quickconnect version and went for the metal and rubber setup...which is actually a better setup and more versatile.. when I was checking their diagrams and part numbers, they didn't have all those pieces, they had the one plastic tube...not surprised as Infiniti tends to have these mistakes in their diagrams during transitions...but also the diagrams were listing Dominican and Panama as the only options..but it appears they opted to just go with one set up worldwide to have less parts produced. But that's okay, the objective here is to get it hooked up and done even if it's just a few tubes and hoses..

So based on this diagram, here's all the parts after the fuel filler tube:

17336-1BA2B (hose) x 1
17338-1BA2A (hose) x 1
17561-0W010 (tube clip) x 1

then there's one of these hoses left:
17336-1BA2A or 17336-EG005 (Just need one). This is what attached to the gas tank. Worst part is not being able to see either of them. Curious, do you know if the metal tube you have, the diameter of of this tube is the same diameter as the tube that stick out of the gas tank? If you have the old quick connect hose from when you had the old filler tube, you can pull that quick connect off and put that into the rubber hose that will eventually connect to the gas tank.

Also, the fuel filler tube you have, does it look like the vent tube uses a quickconnect like in the photo you showed above or can it accept a rubber hose?

i tried to buy this part Nissan 17221-1WW0C - TUBE ASSEMBLY-FILLER from amayama they have one in stock but they will not ship to canada just my luck but makes no sense to me
