6 QUARTS OF OIL (I USED 10W30 AROUND 5-1/2 QUARTS)

3. GET YOUR DRAIN PAN AND ALIGN IT UNDER THE OIL DRAIN PLUG, THE OIL WILL SHOOT A BIT FAR AT FIRST SO ALIGN IT ACCORDINGLY. I DIDN'T ALIGN MINE PROPERLY AND GOT OIL ALL OVER THE PLACE. LOOSEN THE DRAIN PLUG WITH A 14MM SOCKET AND WRENCH AND REMOVE THE PLUG.

4. AFTER DRAINING THE OIL CLOSE THE DRAIN PLUG AND TIGHTEN IT TO 25-FT/LBS.

5 ALIGN THE DRAIN PAN UNDER THE OIL FILTER AND REMOVE THE OIL FILTER USING YOUR OIL FILTER WRENCH.

6. AFTER THE OIL DRAINS FROM THE FILTER AREA, CLEAN THE SURFACE OF THE OIL FILTER MOUNT. LIGHTLY OIL THE O-RING ON YOUR NEW FILTER AND SCREW IT ON UNTIL IT MAKES CONTACT WITH THE MOUNTING SURFACE. TIGHTEN YOUR OIL FILTER ANOTHER 2/3 - 3/4 TURN OR 13-FT/LBS AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE MOUNTING SURFACE.

7. ON TOP OF THE ENGINE YOU ARE GOING TO FILL UP YOUR ENGINE WITH OIL. I FIRST DID 5 QUARTS CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND PUT THE BELLY PAN BACK ON. DROPPED THE CAR PUT THE OIL CAP BACK ON AND STARTED THE CAR. TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED 5 MINUTES AND CHECKED THE LEVEL WITH THE OIL LEVEL GAUGE STICK. I WAS IN THE NORMAL RANGE WITH 5 QUARTS BUT MORE ON THE LOWER SIDE. I ADDED ANOTHER 1/2 QUART OF OIL AND CALLED IT A DAY.

Finally a V8 version. Nice.

I hate those 18 bolts. I've lost like 5 now lol. Whoever designed that part of the car must have hated his life. Why not make a little 'port hole' for oil changes like BMW's have (from what I've been told by friends)? So stupid.

The 18 bolts are crazy, I actually noticed hours later that I left one bolt off, it decided to hide behind one of my shoes in the garage. Oh well I will just throw it on next time I have the car up.

I am sure a lot of people suspect this, but the Nissan engineers put these shields on for better wind/draq coefficient numbers. This helps to improve fuel economy at freeway speeds, though only slightly. This slight difference, however small, may have put the numbers up even .1 mpg better, which may have played a role in getting to 21 highway mpg vs 20. It's all the small things...
