Hi everyone,

Hows it going? Im new to this forum and had a question. I have a 2004 Infiniti Fx35 AWD and i got this clicking or ticking sound as i slow down and come to a complete stop while applying the brakes. As i slow down from 20 mph im apply the brake as it slowly rolls to a complete stop the sound occurs like a hard click or ticking harder as the car stops. After completing a full stop theirs one more click or tick after the car fully stops. i guess you can say it sounds like a broken strut but happens when i stop. my buddy has a 04 g35 and he has the same problem and he suggested it might be the compression rod? Anyone please add your opinion thank you.

really i hear it coming from the front though? But if your saying dry rear axles do i need to take out the rear axles completely and grease them up or can i do it just on jack stands? im not familar with the rear axles is it the same as the front?

I don't think it's the dry rear axle. Something about this seems different. Nevertheless, here's the thread on that for comparison just in case. ///5979

maybe you're right. The dry axle thing likely will be at the rear, & normally at acceleration
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking. However, I noticed when slowing down if the car downshifts, it could bring it into higher RPM's and cause a slight click sometimes.

it happens almost coming to a complete stop i dont notice it accelerating......hmmm you can feel it in the pedal if that helps. Do you guys know anything about the compression rod route?

Every time I have had this problem it ended up being something in the wheel (or hub cap), brake, or axle (bearing?). Try having someone walk next to the car while it's happening.

we tried that its not as loud to hear outside becuase of the engine, i see that this is not a common problem since not alot of people have this issue haha.
