$2000 Seat Cushion???

My wife has a 2005 FX35 AWD with black leather. Her driver's seat has been cracked since we purchased it used last year and now it has become a tear. I am a certified technician, so I know my way around a car. I attempted to repair the leather with a professional repair kit, but the constant movement of the seat has weakened the repair and now is back to the tear again. There is no way I can imagine spending the almost $2000 on a new seat cover/cushion set that is quoted on most of the Infiniti parts places online. :eek.: Is there another alternative or am I checking the correct part? I want a factory seat cushion, not a seat cover, nothing aftermarket, and used units are still going for $600-800. What are my options?

I think you would be better off taking it to a leather upolstery place. They can replace the leather cover and make it look like it was never damaged. You will probably pay like $200-$500 maybe to fix it by them, but it's better than buying a new cushion.

+ 1 on a leather shop doing the work.. You can do custom work on both seats for less than half the price of oem $$

Mine tore as well, I just took it to an upholstery place. My tear was on the front of the seat, where my knees rest on the left side, the guy replaced that piece for $60

is it the side on the seat? if so and not big, use some super glue for plastic and usea needle to get the glue into the cracks and hold it tight. use tape to hold it togehter. i did that and its holding nice still

If you are adamant on factory/OEM then a leather shop for repair is probably the only way to go. I know you are against aftermarket, but you can get the whole entire interior reupholstered for the prices quoted from the dealer. It will look better and last longer than the OEM leather/vinyl. This why I clean and condition my leather every 2-3 months because I don't ever want to be faced with this dilemma.

Don't fear going to an upholstery shop - they really do better work than most dealerships do with installing OEM parts. I've had both my seat bottom repaired (exactly like the photo) for $200 and then about three months ago I wrecked the FX and the seat airbag punched through the seat back. After replacing the airbag module, the ripped seat back panel was replaced ($180). My seat looks new. Here's a shot of the replaced panel on the seat back before I reinstalled it.

Thank you to all for your input, this is exactly the kind of information I was looking for! :highfive::highfive: I will be searching for local upholstery shops soon and I'll probably disassemble everything and just take all the covers in to be redone.
