08 FX35 Center Console Lid Latch Broken - Need Help

Do you still got the broken latch piece? if do i jb welded it. Take some sand paper and a knife the crap out of the plastic pieces to make deep groves and glue it on. put on light layers. Every layer, sand it. miens been holding together for a year now

^ I still have the broken latch. So hold on, so when you said put light layers and sand each layers; did you mean that the dried up hardened layers will be used to add volume to the broken part?

Can you post a picture? Not sure if the detail will be captured, but worth asking. I did a call around and the cheapest is $229 with $275 on the high side. Unfortunately, there's no FX lying around in the bone yards I called. No luck on eBay as well.

scrape up the parts thats broken and on the back side. dont be shy put nice deep groves in it.
-mix some jb weld and apply some where the 2 parts meet and let it dry.( hold together with tape)
-remove tape, once dried put light coat of jb weld on the back of the 2 pieces. Apply some "dry wall mesh" or fibre glass sheet for strength between both pieces. let it dry
- sand and apply 2nd coat. try to get all 4 sides of the crack. will post picture tomorrow

Thanks Andrew! I already purchased JB weld. I think I have a drywall mesh tape somewhere from a recent house project. Will look forward to see the pix.

BTW Andrew, did you removed the arm rest lid off the car while you were working on attaching the broken tab or you worked on it still attached to the car?

^ thanks Andrew. I decided to take the entire lid and now doing a small production in my kitchen island.

My center console lid latch broke yesterday and the freaking LID wont close anymore. I called the dealership and see if they only sell the latch but I guess not. The guy said I have to buy a complete lid which will run me around $550. Does anyone here have any solution or maybe know off a place I can get replacements.

Also can someone provide instructions on how to remove the lid top from center console, i un-screwed 9 screws and it still does not come off.

I realize this might not be the most elegant solution, but this is what I did. I used an old magnetic cabinet catch that I had, screwed into the coin tray inside the arm rest, screwed the metal catch plate on the inside of the upper part of the arm rest, and it has been working fine since then. At least it looks better than the rubber bands that I had been using and that would subsequently fail after a few days. Now I can take my time finding replacement arm rest. Below are the photos of the project. Note: I took the entire arm rest off and played with it at my kitchen table, but I believe anyone can do this without having to remove the armrest.

I used this particular magnetic catch because I had it lying around in the garage. I'm sure there are better ones out there that would work better in this application. This particular one has adjustment wings which didn't allow it to lay flat in the coin tray.

Metal plate screwed to the inside top of the arm rest at the appropriate location for the magnet to catch it

Result (Note: it shows a bit of gap in the how it's closed; I tweaked the magnetic catch to where there is no gap now)

haha Pretty good fix actually. Maybe painting that magnet so it doesn't stand out so much would be good too

the bottom of mine broke. i took heavy sand paper , then jb welded it. seems to hold for now
My center latch broke off 2007 Infiniti FX35 after someone pulled it up without releasing the latch. I cannot locate the part that broke. Can anyone measure the latch from the top to bottom for me? I purchased a latch for another vehicle and want to JB Weld it on to see if it will stay. Thanks,
