Tire bags

For people who have twenty inch rims and larger, how do you store your summer tires if you get winter
tires. I have not been able to find a tire bag large enough. Tire racks totes are too small and so are the others on the internet. Slip n grip makes an extra large bag, but it looks like you have to buy them in bulk. Any suggestions?

I have used both the TireRack totes and large garbage bags. Both fit the entire rim and tire just fine

Guys, what is the proper way to store tires. I store them in my walkout basement, bagged and stacked with heavy cardboard between each wheel and tire. I find it takes les floor space this way. I have been doing it this way for over 20 years.
How do you do it, or is there a proper way?

whatever you do, just dont leave them directly on the garage floor, its going to dry rot your tires. A piece of cardboard, or even a rug between the tire and floor will save it

Good point Pat, I forgot to mention, I have my stack of tires piled on top of a piece of 2" thk Styrofoam insulation.

According to tire rack, they say to wrap them in airtight bags and then store them in totes if you want.

I have the tirerack totes. They fit my 16" BMW wheels and 20" FX45 Winter Wheels and 22" FX45 Summer wheels without an issue.

You have to be cautious on overall diameter. My maximum tire diameter is around 30.5" and that is on my 20" set. So actually my 22" set is SMALLER by .1".

It is near the max at 30.5" overall diameter, so anything bigger than I would say 31", you might be in trouble.

"One size fits tires 22" to 31" in overall diameter and up to 295mm section width"

Off the tirerack website.
