Winter wheel sizing

Currently have a 2nd Gen FX35 and will be needing winter tires and wheels soon. I'd like to buy winter wheels that will futureproof myself as I would eventually like to get the FX50S Akebono brakes.

On fx.org forum, there was someone with an FX50S and downgraded to Sport Edition F-10 with 40mm offset and that cleared his brakes: http://www.infinitifx.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21533. The wheels I'm looking at are the Sport Edition SE-14, 18X8 35mm offset:

What I want to know is that whether this wheel provides slightly more clearance than the F-10 model? Can I just base it mainly by the offset, since it is 5mm more, or is there a chance by the wheel/spoke design that it might not clear the akebono big brakes?

yes, you do have to take into account spoke design when considering brake caliper clearence. If the wheel has a decent lip, you'll have to be careful about that as well. With a bigger lip, the spokes tend to sit further back, even tho you have a low offest, and may cause fitment issues (since the wheels you picked don't have a lip, you don't have to worry about that, future reference). Btw, having a lower offset means the wheel sit further out of the vehicle, which generally means more clearence. Akebonos are not super big, so you shouldn't have any problems. Do a search, i saw a post where there was an attached pdf file that had an outline of the Akebono set up. But, then again, you don't have the wheels yet, so scratch that last comment, just for furture reference, I guess.

Another option is to look around the used classified/marketplace threads. You can get 18" or 20" factory wheels from a 1st gen for pretty cheap (I haven't looked, so I'm not sure what they're going for). Nissan wheels are direct bolt ons too, so you can pick up Titan or Pathfinder wheels too. Just a thought.
