Why is top of dash super sticky in in sun for 2 mins?

I have a 2009 FX35 with the bubbling dash top which was replaced under the extended warranty just for this item. Now I have a 2012 FX35 and while the top of the dash is not bubbling, as soon as it's in the sun for 2-3 mins, it becomes super sticky. I've tried cleaning it but doesn't help. What is going on here?

And I also notice some cracking along the right side of the center console. Is this common?

I have a 2016 but my dash isn't sticky. Maybe the previous owner had used some kind of cleaner/protector and it has now become sticky? Maybe try some warm/soapy water? I've seen cracking on early model year FX/QX (some post on the forums), but I haven't experienced it.

I'm seeing the same thing on my dash. Funny enough it started about 2 months ago when I realized how much reflected glare I was getting off my dash in the windshield. When I touched the dash it was sticky. While it's sticky it's also fragile. So be careful not to clean it or touch it in any way while it's in this state.

As soon as I parked in a shady area, the stickiness for the most part went away. It wasn't as fragile either.

I did some digging on this and it appears the 2nd gens are affected by the same issue as the 1st gens but not at such a major scale. My car never had any products put on the dashboard and this is happening. I always use the windshield sunshade whenever there's sun.

I read somewhere someone had the same issue and they used Aerospace 303 cleaner and protectant. So with the car in the shade and the dash cool, I used Aerospace 303 cleaner 3 times. I changed the cloth 3 times as well as not to smear any of the stickiness back into the dash. After the dash dried I used Aerospace 303 protectant with the same cloth. I applied it two times. I let it dry and then with a clean clothe wiped down the dash again to take off any excessive protectant. So far it's working but I've noticed it started to leave some light haze which comes off with a dry micro fiber cloth.

What I speculate is happening is under heat some polymer is disintegrating within the dash and comes out when the sun hits it. A lot of these materials have UV protection but they eventually fail and the polymers fall apart as a result. You can try saving it as mentioned in my previous paragraph but that'll be something that needs to be applied every so often to keep it at bay. But I haven't had it going on long enough to say so we'll see.

But in essence, it's basically the beginning of the end for the dash sadly and replacement dashboards are expensive. A used dash might be an option but who knows how much life it has left.

I mostly fixed it by putting the top of dash in the sun so it got sticky and scrubbing hard w/damp towels. I don't know if it was a coating form Inifniti or maybe some prior time I got car washed that put something else on top? Maybe it reacted.

I had this on my replacement dash in my FX45, and now on my OEM dash in the FX50, as well as cracks around the air vents. But, this dash lasted 13 years, the replacement in my FX45 lasted 8. In all cases, the dash would get shiny where the sun was hitting it, then it would kind of go back to normal afterwards, but you could see a lasting impression of where the sun was hitting it. After my experiences with the FX45 and my G35, I've used nothing on the FX50 dash, and I also have the windshield 'tinted' with a $400 UV blocking clear tint.

My '06 G35 is on its second dashboard, which is now having the same issue, just like the first one.

FWIW, Acura and Lexus also appear to have sucky dashboards.
