Front window and windshield tint job

To make my long drive from California to Vancouver BC this
weekend. I decided to have the front windows and front
windshield tinted a 50% shade. It came out great. You
can't even notice the tint in the windshield. You really
have to look very closely to see the actual cuts on the edges
of the film by the rearview mirror and it would have to be
pointed out in order for anyone to know. Here are some pics.

nice!!

Your paint needs a detail bro so many swirl marks!

LOL....Yes you are absolutely right. Funny that you mentioned it. I just bought a bunch of detailing stuff and have plans to detail it right before I leave. I'll do a clay job first then then the surface prep(paint cut/cleaner)the wax then the protective coating.

Very nice. Do you notice a difference with 50% compared to no tint?
As far as the view no difference but I can definitely feel the difference because it cut down on the sun and glare. Makes it easier on the eyes for sure. Its also easier on the AC since it cut down on the interior heat. The tint has gotten clearer since I left it our in the sun to dry for the last 2 days and placing the car in the garage at night. I am very happy with the tint and for $ 160.00 I think it was well worth it.

Been wanting to tint my front windshield for a long time but since I have 5% tint on all the other windows I'm concerned that it will give me the impression that it is too dark at night.

I had the front windshield tinted about a month ago on my wifes minivan, but noticed it distorts light and gives me a headache, esp at night time. Have you noticed any of that with your film?

I have my windshield tinted 50% and that doesn't happen. I'm using 3m.

I seen on the tint forums that only happens when you use cheap tint. Higher end film like Suntek, llumar, and 3M don't do that.

Got it from a llumar dealer, and the side windows came out great. Just not the front. Thought I had to let it settle in and gave it a good month in the socal heat and sun, but it hasn't gone away. Gonna take it back and have them redo it.

maybe they damaged it when they shrunk it with the heat gun

I tend to agree with FirOnic3FX on this one. I have DIY tint before and I can tell u how many times I've overdone the heating method and the film ends up distorting. I was going to DIY this tint job but after weighing the expense of the film and my time it just wasn't worth it.

Windshield tint shouldn't given you any headaches and has no distortion. It's basically like driving with light sunglasses on plus a lot of heat also doesn't enter the car.

I tinted the front windshield, driver and passanger windows with a basically clear uv blocking 3m tint. You cant tell that the tint is there except for a slight blue reflection. You have to use the good stuff if you are going to tint the windshield. You wont get the distortion with the good stuff. Beware though that tinting the windshield screws up the sunlight sensor which brings up another rant. The instrument lighting adjustment is crap on my 10 FX. One click below max dims it wayyyy to far. I had it adjusted one click below max for better night vision but now with the screwed up sun sensor the headlights stay on even in direct morning sunlight. So with the headlights on the dash is dimmed too far. I have to keep the dash lighting on max now cause the headlights keep coming on.

I have the 70% 3M that I believe you have for my windshield. I love it. Not too much but reduces the heat when driving. Car still is hot when you get in dont get me wrong but driving with that tint opposed to no tint you feel practically no heat it's great

If you have tan interior like i do, dark tints wont look that dark. I have 5% on my fronts and 35% on the shield.

I don't know! 5% is dark regardless of your interior! I imagine that 35% would almost look like 20% w 5% around? Isn't it tough to see at night?

I love that look though! Wish I could do that but seems too dark for me

Haha impressive. I feel I even have a hard time seeing in low light neighborhoods and my tints are nothing compared to you!
