so lately ive been wanting to wrap the roof of fx gloss black and called up this shop. guy suggested i should paint it for better results. and he quoted me $350 for vinyl wrap and $400 for painting the roof and roof rails all gloss black. I am confused :\ help a brotha out

I would paint it personally, but the thing with the wrap is you can take it off if you ever want to in the future.

I would go the wrap method just because you can take it off eventually if you're looking to sell the FX.

There are quite a few people on here who have applied vinyl to the roof and had it in place for a few years, maybe one of them will speak up.

If you're planning to keep your fx for a while and no garage, I'd go with paint. And honestly when you sell the car it's not a huge modification, matter of fact a lot of luxury (an not so luxury) brands have black roofs. So some people will think its supposed to be like that, especially on a white exterior.

If that's the case, it would be better for you to paint it.

I'd say go vinyl. In case you don't like the look or want to change it up or remove it later on. Plus vinyl is more forgiving when it comes to scratches and such.

Wrap on the roof is actually the worst part to ever wrap a car. My friend and i do wraps, we buy the expensive quality thicker wraps and the roof tops usually fade under the sun and its a bitch to remove. Sometimes the paint will peel off, you got to be very careful
