How to tell if my 2005 fx35 is AWD?

Maybe you can look for the "4WD SOL" fuse located in the box under the steering wheel? I wouldn't imagine rwds having this... but may be wrong

I was just about to write this.
Isn't the "remove the 4WD SOL fuse" mod popular with AWD FX's?

You can check the fuse box next the the driver's left foot. If there is one called "AWD SOL", then you're awd.

You could also call a dealership and give them your vin#.

or you can see if its got cv joints going into the front wheels... if you dont see them in front and only to the rear.. then rwd

I'm with mbarb, easy foolproof way is to peek your head under the front and look for the drive axle. If there is none then it's RWD, if there is one like in the pic(ribbed rubber boot with shaft coming out toward the engine) then it's AWD

My FX is AWD and when I hit the AWD button it reads AWD on the instrument cluster, also you can just go under the FX and see if you have a transfer case.

Exactly, if you see those in front then it is an AWD, these are there to transfer power to the front wheels.
Besides, if you see the AWD light briefly when you start the car then definitely it is.
