Why 1st Gen FX35 is so much slower than 2nd Gen FX35?

There are a lot of 1st gens...but only one Rookie 1st gen. :bomb:

We gotta wait for the 3rd gens to come out and then the 1st and 2nd gens will UNITE! HA!

Not trying to throw bomb into the debate. However, I am in a dilemma now. I have saved 20 grand and ready to either turbo/super charged my 07 FX35 or just trade in the car (dealer is offering me 21k) for an 09/10 low mileage FX50S.
I feel the FX50 is the safest way to get to the quickness I want. But I also like the look of the gen 1 more...

I loved my 1st Gen(08)and agree with most of the comments made about it.
However, when it was crushed in a garage collapse two yrs. ago I test drove a 2gen and I was more impressed with the tech stuff than any other aspect of the car.
I felt that the 1Gen was more fun to drive because of the exotic sound of the exhaust and the impression that the over all control
seemed to be sporter and easier to modify. Driving the 2Gen is like driving a tamed smooth more sophisticated version of the 1Gen to appeal to a broader base of potential SUV purchasers. I've been driving my 09 for over two years now and can appreciate the differences.
It's like moving on to a new girlfriend remembering the first one but stepping up a notch with a new HOttie. lol.

I read that the FX45 0-60 time is only 6.3 seconds. I believe that is wrong. The car mag who tested it back in 2003 had a dud. Mines have dusted cars listed as 6.0 seconds and faster. You can shave a few tenths of seconds off the 1 gen FX45 1/4 times, by changing out the platinum sparks plugs for some iridium spark plugs and change the dino oil over to synthetic oil. I noticed that most newer nissans are using iridium plugs stock now over the platinum plugs due to better performance and mpgs, I assume it is the same for Infiniti since they are the same company. My 2004 FX45 runs like a beast with only those two changes and by losing those horrible goodyear tires for some yokohomas tires. The second gen FX35 can not beat a FX45 in a race. The FX50S, no doubt can, but not the FX35. I have handed a driver of a 2nd gen FX35 his ass on the highway. The look on the driver's face was priceless.:smug: P.S. yes that driver was trying his hardest to past me on the highway straight aways, twice. He learned that hard way not the mess with the 45. The older FX45 pulls like a horse in third gear, the newer FX35 has more gears in the transmission than the FX45, but not as much low end torque. The second gen was a nice looking FX35 though, a black one. The driver may even be on this forum.

That seems like too low of a price for a 2010 low mileage FX50S. Even if it doesn't have the tech package and all unless some salvage title or past accident.

hey ill buy that fx50 if u dont! :)

21k great price, unless ur saying 21k after 20k down

Hahaha, that was my exact thought when I first saw the original post. The 21K was for trading in the 07 FX35!
