DDM HID Foglight Install : Problem , not working !

Sooooooo I Installed Slim Ballast HID Fog light kit from DDM today on my new 2012 FX , exact same kit I previously got for my 2010... Install was easy, got it done in under 1 hour, both lights tested great separately and then together. Put everything back, turned the car on multiple times to make sure they come on (they are DTRL's in Canada) , worked great.

Then turned on the headlights + fogs, worked great, about 5th time I turned the fogs off and on, they stopped working. The fog light indicator on the dash shows they are on , but they are not.

If I recall, one member had a similar issue I wonder if they resolved it ? Is there some fog light fuse that could have burned out ? (Overload ?) I am really disappointed, I am pretty sure the kit is ok, it must be something else that's causing the fogs not to turn on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

must be a loose connection unless you've got a fuse out... the only things i can think of... i know when i hooked up mine i need to push the one plug in hard to get it to lock

Yeah, I got 35W, all the connections checked , no issues there, the thing is they were working fine and both suddenly stopped. So it could have tripped the fuse...

Does anyone know where the fuse for the fog lights is located ? I opened the battery cover, there is a fuse box beside battery but I don't see anything labelled as Fog lights, I see everything else but that...

Not sure if the 2nd gen is the same, but on the first gen there are TWO fuse boxes in the battery compartment. You have to remove the cowl to get the second one tucked by the firewall.

You mean I have to remove the battery to get to the 2nd fuse box ?

If the dash light is showing that the fogs are on, then its probably not the fuse. I dont think changing the connection would help either since they tested fine previously. Are they both not firing? Do they flicker 1st then shut off?

I just installed the same kit about a week ago and have not had any issues at all. However I had an issue with the DS2 bulbs they sent for the headlights which they promptly addressed and I should have my new ones today.... =)

That's what I am wondering too, if the light on the dash shows they are on , would the fuse be ok ? I turned them on and off like 10 times over a short period of time and they both suddenly stopped working at the same time

*edit* I put back both stock bulbs, and they are not working. I think it's either Fog Light Fuse or DTRL Fuse that is blown (they both control the fogs) bad news is that to get to that fuse box it looks like a 2 hour job to disassemble everything around the battery , removing the cables from the fuse box and then finally getting to the actual fuse :(

So my left fog light went out last night. The right one still works.... Headlight on left side acting up now too.... GRRR... will check it out today, but thinking I might be done with DDM.......

UPDATE** disconnected then reconnected all harnesses. All is working fine again. Headlight working normal now too... weird...

Have you changed the fuse? Working ok now?

Yes the fuse is changed and using stock fog bulbs now, I am little hesitant to put back the same DDM kit again, I am waiting to see if they will replace it with a new one.

I am also looking into projector kit if I can find one, then I will get that for sure instead of basic HID kit :smile (2):

***UPDATE*** So DDM says to install a wire harness, uhm no, it's not needed on our FX, so I taped up all the connectors on the kit with electrical tape , I figured there was a short or wet cable somewhere, re-installed the kit today, and voila, it's been working for at least 2+ hours without an issue.

I think there was a short somewhere first time I installed it and that's what caused the fuse to blow.

Anyway this is just a temporary fix as I really want to get the projector kit in those fogs, guys from TRS seem pretty confident it can be done, so we'll see.

Well the Fuse died again after 1 month, I think there is something wrong with this DDM kit, I guess it gives me more motivation to look for the projector kit now lol
