Need help with the right tire size for 24's

Ok so Ive finally decided on a 24x9 rennen rs6 wheel in black. Now i just need help choosing the right tire size so that I dont rub aanywhere or have in any issues with these wheels. Again they are 24x9 with an offset of 30 on an 09 fx. I would like to run a 295 35 24 tire but dont know if it will work. The shop im working with wants to mount 275 30 24. Id really rather go with a 35 sidewall. Any help is much appreciated. Ill defintely post some pics as soon as i get mounted which might be by tonight. Definitely by this weekend. All I need now os the perfect tire size and Im good to go. Thanks for any help in advance.

275/30r24 will work.. same OD on that and OE fitment 30.6 and section width on the tire is 9-10in so its within specs, the 295/35r24 is about about 32.2 OD which is close to 2 inches taller and the section width is 10-11in, an inch wider than the wheels u have.. it may not cause much sidewall bulge if any at all but it is 1.4in taller and you gotta check to see if its gonna clear

I'v heard that you can run 395/35/R24's on a 2nd gen, but I personally don't believe it. I ran 275/30/R24's myself and didn't mind the ride quality at all. I was careful around pot-holes of course, but never had an issue with a blow out or anything. Do avoid any chance of rubbing I would go with the 275/30/24's!

good luck

i would run 285, to protect the rims on the sides from gettin scratched

np dude, hope it helps!

in 285/30r24, or 285/35r24 theres nothing really made other than pirellis (if theyre still around), and 285/40r24 is too tall, so im not sure what u can really do in 285.. in 285/30r24, the OD is 30.7 and the section width is 9.5-11in which also works.. 285/35r24 is too tall.. 32.7 OD 10-11in section width

I ran both 285/30-24 Pirelli PZero and 285/35/24 Pirelli Scorpion.

You live in New York. My take being in Chicago, was the 285/30/24 was a joke, rubber band comes to mind. I returned the tire and bought 285/35/24 -- eats up pot holes like nothing. I get rub, but worth it to me -- just plastic inner wheel wells.

You have a 2nd generation, 295/35/24 works, but your wheel is so narrow (9"), so I'd suggest 285/35/24 Pirelli's.

275/30/24 works for Hollywood in Cali -- but those are thin tires... just a warning.

I just got 285/35/22 on my new wheels which are 22x10.5" with a +35 offset.... for the 24's you should do 285/30/24... go w/ the 24x10.5" instead of the 9" wide wheels... and the +30 offset is too far in for the 2nd gen FX... I would go w/ a +20 if you're sticking with a 24x9"....

hit up D2Autosport if you want to get the Rennen wheels...

According to this really helpful (if its correct) calculator at www.wheels.corinthian.se/ ill have an extra 7mm of clearance on the strut side of the wheels and ill be extending out an extra 33mm. I hope this is ok and my fenders dont rub. Also it calculates the height of the tire at pretty much the same height which is good cuz i do wanna drop it a bit. Everything is ordered already and im just waiting for the call to go and mount these up. He said definitley by the end of this week. Cant wait. Ill post some pics. Hopefully I wont get bashed for wheel choice. I got the rennen rs6 in black and machined on a copper color fx. Most of all hope I like it :-P

Sorry about the link. The correct one is http://wheels.corinthian.se/

Im also thinking about dropping some HR's in there after the wheels are on. I will if I have enough clearance. Just waiting for the call on the wheels from today to tomorrow they said.

Finally got my wheels and couldnt be happier. Ride is fine so far. Offset was perfect. And they look amazing. Ill post some pics later today. Now the only thing is Im getting vibration from the steering at highway speeds. Im wondering id I should get it aligned right away or wait. Somebody told me I should use wheel hubs as well. Anybody?

What is the hub bore on your new wheels, did you use hub centering rings to go from the OEM 66.1 to the new wheels hub size. This could cause vibration if they aren't centered properly.

and we need pics

In addition, our FX's are sensitive to vibration.

1) make sure you have hub centric wheels or get hub centric rings. 66.1mm inner diameter and xxmm outer diameter (whatever your wheels are.

2) increase psi to 38 psi cold

3) tighten your steering rack

4) make sure you get hunter roadforce balancing and put the best two in front (closest to 0 road force number)

5) make sure all your lugs are on at the right torque specs

if you still get a shake from 60-70 mph, it's just either the wheels or tires are hard to balance. being 24's makes it harder too...

Wow sounds like a lot to do. Im gonna start with trying to find the right hub rings for an Rennen RS6 wheel. Which I have no clue where to find. Then Ill work on the rest. In the meantime I ran out and snapped a quick few for u guys. In person they look even better.

nice! tires look thick enough, but being devils advocate, you could have gotten thicker. Maybe when they wear out=)

Looks like you need a drop though, after the camber issue stuff gets fixed!

24's look right to me on the 2nd gens more so than the 1st gens.

Yes I agree the 2nd gens swallow up the 24's with np. I wanted bigger tires but nobody I tried would guarantee fitment so I just went with the 30's. As far as the drop im just waiting on camber issues to get solved and im on it. Now im just stressing over the shaking issue. How do I find out what size I need for the hubs I wanna do that asap before anything else gets screwed up :/

you need a nice measuring caliper to measure the hub of the wheel, it should be like 70mm or something.

but you need to the exact 70.12 mm, then i can help direct you to get a hub ring that is e.g. 70.12 mm to fit snug against the wheel, then 66.1 mm to fit snug against the hub of the car.
