Yes my wife and I test drove some cars yesterday. She is looking into getting something this year. I gotta say, we are both liking what we are hearing and seeing about the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. I'm not too fond of the JX styling for some reason and for some reason it even looks more like a minivan when I see the JX. My wife hates minivans or cars that look like it.

What do you guys think of the 2013 Pathfinder? We are thinking it might be it without even test driving it yet, but would like your opinions too.

Nissan says that, like the all-new Patrol due later this year, the new Pathfinder will feature a more premium feel in the cabin (although not quite to Infiniti levels), including leather trim, heated and cooled front seats, heated second row, heated steering wheel, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, iPod connectivity, and push-button ignition. Tri-zone climate control will also be available, along with a powered tailgate, DVD screens for the second row, Nissan's Around View monitor (uses multiple cameras to show a full exterior view), and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Has some luxury features that I would have loved to have in my FX coming from an Infiniti that this has like heated steering wheel, rear heated and DVDs in the headrests versus that top clunky thing, etc. It even has the dual large moon roofs, climate controls in the rears too that I would have loved to have, etc.

amazing how much of an upgrade it is compared to the current year:

Some comparison shots of Pathfinder versus JX...I know it's the same, but still the JX looks more minivan like to me and the front grill I'm just not digging for some reason and can't pinpoint why, but the Pathfinder I think they nailed it with style. Maybe over styled??

Sounds good!

Quality of materials are probably better in the JX than the Nissan and more sound deadening material. Everything is probably more refined in the JX compared to the Pathfinder since cost comes into mind and Infiniti is the luxury division.

Ah c'mon jd. If she hates minivans get her a real sports car. That's what she's hinting at anyway. That M3 coupe or GTR will look nice next to the FX

+1, 2 baby seats fit in the rear seats of the GTR or M3 coupe.

(I'm looking at the 7 seater Pathfinder too)

And apparently in yesterday's test drive her first words were "I need more power"....after flooring it to see if it has good pickup.

Several years back she got pulled over by a cop while test driving a car...

Haha. See? Told you. But if she needs more room (I didnt realize you have 2 kids) cayenne turbo or srt8 Cherokee should satisfy her need for speed

We don't have kids yet but we do plan on it and probably a few AND we have 2 big dogs. Hence why the pathfinder now is looking good! :)

I see. BUT I still stand to my point you should do better then a pathfinder....

She doesn't like the "status" other cars give off, particularly BMW, Mercedez, etc because that's not her and she doesn't want to be given off like that. She also wants a reliable car, good gas too when we go on big long trips, so cars like range rover and Audi Q5/Q7 are not desired (we tend to keep our cars for a long time). She doesn't feel like this about Infiniti, but I'm not a fan of the way the JX looks. She never liked the porches...didn't want me to get one. She doesn't like Honda or Toyota/Lexus cause of all those recalls, no minivans. She likes small cars (going to this size is a little of a stretch) so QX56, etc is just way way too big. She hates cadillacs thinks that old people only drive them. It has to have a sunroof and I would want her to have AWD.

So what are some other good options to try?

Jeez jd, good luck with the search. You've about eliminated 90% of cars right there. The other 10% don't exist yet

^Thats the 2012 euro spec A4 Allroad, btw. All wheel drive, 2.0T (economical+reliable), sunroof, great warranty, better handling, (possibly more comfortable), smaller, and cheaper than everything you mentioned. We get one (2013 model, same chassis code) in June of this year. Also better ground clearance than the A4, in case you two have to load/unload any strollers or baby seats in the near future........... ;)

^^ Ooooh I want... maybe trade in one of my cars later this year for that....sick

Ooooh Now I want more! Got another little one coming in May. Perfect for 2 kids

A4 avant is out already in US from their website or is there a brand new model coming?
Looks like no 3 row seating...not that it's a requirement just saying...what we have found is the JX (hence pathfinder) seem not that big for something that comes with 3 rows of seats just in case. Most 3 seaters are huge.

Audi interior looks really really nice.

Avant is different than the Allroad. Both based on the A4, but the latter is a little less "car" if that makes sense. In the Subaru world its the difference between the Legacy wagon and the Outback. Definitely no 3rd row though. :(
