I'm in the look out for a very good deal on blizzaks tires with rims for the winter. I figure if I find a great deal and something that will work, then I'll get it, otherwise I'll just ride on my 21s until then.

I found someone selling these locally:

$600
Set of 4 snow tires and wheels (no TPS - he saved $400 by not getting it)
Mounted Bridgestone Blizzak 225/50R18
MSW 18" Aluminum Alloy Performance Type-12 Rims
5 lug 4.5 inch or 114.3mm High Positive Offset
Purchased on Tirerack.com
18" MSW type-12 wheels , mint condition, hand torqued and cared for when stored.
Bridgestone Blizzak 225/50 R18 (great tread left 3000 miles driven on them) Easily could go 9000-10000 additional winter miles on them
(One tire has a small scrape on it, but it is superficial and did not impact performance.)
Original Retail $1400, Still 60% wear left on these. Asking less than half .
I have all the lug nuts also
I had them on an Infiniti G37 S 6MT for 2 winter seasons.

Do you guys think this will work for my FX50S if I get spacers?
If so, which spacers and how much would that run and would discount tires be able to switch these using spacers?
Is 18'' too much of an issue, or should I only look for 20'' or something?
Is this a really good deal to go for it assuming it's good for the ride?
Any issues with TPMS not being there?

Jonas, this winter setup is NOT recommended. Your speedometer will more than 13% too fast based on your OEM 265/45/21. Under 3% difference is ideal.

Jonas, you can always call tirerack and ask them for clearance specs. They have the specs on all their wheels.

I bought my winter set from them.

Interesting....Tire Rack’s recommended 265/60R18 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 snow tires for the FX50. That would clear, but the variance would still be high wouldn't it?

No, you are fine:
OEM = 30.38 in
265/60/18 = 30.51 in diameter
Diameter Difference: 0.43%
Speedometer Difference: 0.425% too slow

Actual Speed: 60 mph 100 km/h
Speedometer1: 59.7 mph 99.5 km/h

I highly recommend getting winter tires and wheels. Especially where you live Jonas...

265/60R18 is good. It falls within the recommended 3% variance based on 1010tires.com calculation below. Funny how they change the rim size on the picture.

You should pass on that setup like the others said. I just bought a complete set of Blizzaks during Discount Tire Labor Day sale. I guess you can still buy it and use the rims only and you can resell the tires in a few weeks when the demand approaches. Personally, I could not run 18s during the winter. I need the OEM 20s as the minimum setup, lol.

I'm considering taking the winter sets off this or next week. Thoughts? When are you guys taking yours off? Lows for the next 10 days are either about mid 30s or higher.

Not for another month or two. I always wait until the temps are consistently around 50F or more.

Spring is here.. Off Jonas.. All the Chi guys will have their wheels this weekend.. Don't you want to jump off the cliff too?

Well, I will put mines on this afternoon. I'm tire of hearing the Winter tires when there is no snow anywhere :smile (2):
