Ok so I've had one hell of a time finding an engine belt that fits, and apparently one does not exist. Gates' catalog is definitely wrong for 2007, and the 2008 belt doesn't fit my 2007.

Here are the two belts I have tried so far. On the left is the pre-2007 belt, which Gates' catalog says fits the 2007, but it is way too big even after tightening. On the right is the part number for the 2008, which I thought would fit, but it is just barely too small to fit on the pulleys, and wouldn't be able to be tightened down much, if at all.

Here are some photos of the Gates' catalog showing the two sizes, and their error.

Just wondering if anyone has a 2007 and has a Gates belt that actually fit, or if anyone with a 2008 can confirm that the K060450 fits. Thanks.

I know what size I probably need, based on picking something in between these two, but I'm running out of time before the tune. Might just have to end up going OEM.

He doesn't have an '07-'08 though. I've done belts before with no problems, just it was on the '03-'06, which has an extra pulley in there, so needs the bigger belt.

To update, I read some other threads on here I found through a Google search, and one other user said he got the K060450 to work. It is one size small (6PK1147 vs. 6PK1148, which is OEM), and I now learned to use these numbers to determine size as they are the same across all manufacturers.

To get it to fit I had to move the ribs, one by one, over the smallest pulley. Once I finally squeezed it on there was a decent amount of play that I then tightened down. FX won't start so I can't confirm it all went perfect, but at least the belt is on now. I guess it's just a tiny bit small so that it's hard to get on, but does fit fine once on. I just hope nothing was damaged when I was sliding it over the pulley lip.

Did you read my OP? Belt number K060465 won't work, much too big. The '07-'08 models have one less pulley.

? Those are the part #'s called out on the website for 2007.

The website also lists the actual sizes maybe you could measure your old belt and order that way.

Yes I know. Gates is wrong, but then again, they also recommend a belt that is one size smaller than the OEM size so no use trusting them at all.
Look at the same part numbers for 2008 and you will see. Or just read my OP. Trust me, I've been through all of this already.

The ones I ordered fit perfect

You have a 2004.

Maybe I didn't explain already. 2003-2006(I think 2006 is included, but I know 2007 isn't) use a larger belt because they have an extra pulley near the upper middle left. 2007-2008 use a smaller belt because they don't have that pulley and thus need a smaller belt.

They just have wrong info, not sure why. I bought from Amazon, and I guess they also get their fitment info from Gates because their catalog said the bigger belt would fit.

Maybe I'll call them and let them know.

Well stu, with all this new found info you should make an :IS: Approved thread for the engine belts.

Just need some sort of PSA that says, "hey Gates has the wrong part number, so if you have a 2007, order the ones for 2008, but know that it will one size smaller than OEM so it's a tight fit."

before i go buying belts, can someone confirm these are the right belt numbers for both belts?

Yes, that is correct. Although in my experience the K060450 is a tad smaller than the equivalent OEM one but can be forced on.

Amazon lists the difference between the two at April-May 2007, although mine is 12/06 and I needed the newer version.

Sorry to bump this thread but I don't want to open a new one and create clutter. I saw that Walmart online carries the Gates belts. When I tried to pull up the part number K040372, it shows two different belts with similar part number and different prices. Can somebody confirm which one I needed?

Question no.2: As for part number# K060450, can I use this as replacement for OEM or I am better off using OEM based on Stu's input that it is rather too tight?

I thought I did my belts at least once since August 2011, but didn't see anything in my Amazon purchases. I assume I got the tad smaller size again and it worked, but now I'm not sure. Oh maybe it was when I took them off to work on the coolant flush, water pump, and thermostat. That wouldn't be as good of an indication since it was probably a little stretched out when I went to put it back on.

For your first question, those belts are the same size. The more expensive one is a fancier belt. RB stands for racing belt I think. I have always used the regular one.

Thanks for your quick reply Stu. Now, my follow up question regarding the tighter fit K06450 belt; if I would use this as you did, would that have any impact or create any unnecessary strain on the pulleys and accelerate wear and tear? Would I be better off going OEM on this particular belt?

Thanks in advance.

BTW are you back in Dallas or still in Houston?

Don't get the racing belt. Starts to squeal faster.

Thank you meme. I was about to buy that. Common misconception that price correlates to quality. LOL.

I'm back in Dallas, was just there for the week.

The smaller sized belt shouldn't make any difference since you end up tightening it down anyway once it's on. It was just more of a pain to get it on. I think it may have been because the tensioner wasn't allowing full slack, but it's been too long for me to remember for sure.

Thanks Stu. Appreciate your inputs. I'll give you a holler of I am visiting Dallas
