one sweet fx!

Pics of the Stillen exhaust install! I spent months going back and forth figuring out which exhaust to go with. After coming down to the details, I knew I wanted a true dual exhaust to begin with and I always loved the sound of the Stillen. But all the issues with the surface rust scared me, but I'm taking the chance anyways. Also people say the Stillen is a heavy system, maybe slightly heavier than OEM. But the shipping weight for the entire system was only 100 lbs, so I can live with that. I think the performance and sound was more than enough to convince me to get it over all the other exhausts out there. I prepped the piping with Rustoleum High Heat paint made for grills and automotive parts as a pre-caution. I think the black piping looks great underneath. For 2006+ 45's the cats are longer so the shop had to cut off about three inches of the mid-pipe to get it to fit. Also the X-pipe was hitting the two skid plastic plates below, so I had them removed. Also decided to keep the Invdia polished tips instead of using the Stillen ones because they are larger. Other than that, the fit is perfect. The real downside is that the GTSPEC rear lateral bar does not clear anymore, so I found a welding shop modify the brace for me. Startup sounds so good, like a nice, exotic tuned V8 and at WOT along with the Injen/Amsoil intake combo, the FX sounds really amazing and is very loud. I will post up videos once I get the chance to take them. Love the Stillen, very happy with my decision!

Always loved the Stillen. This would have been on mine too if I didn't find my Nismo locally.

:good:

:good: Looks and sounds good. Drove it the other day. OEM exhaust just to restrictive! Hey when can we see the modified GTSPEC Rear Latteral? Your car is so slammed that it need to be on a "drive on" lift instead! Andrew's ride is so low that my floor jack can't fit under it anymore. He'll have to bring his own low profile jack next time :smile (2):

Justine, exhaust job is to big for HA's garage. I did swap my Invidia with KaKumei on my 35 though. :smile (2):

Looking good! Congrats!

Thanks Z! Thanks for answering my questions about Stillen, since you got your first. It really helped! :good:

Very nice Andrew, I'm looking forward to your sound clips.

Going to try to get a movie made with Andrew one of these days, hopefully this weekend! :film:

looks great. they were able to weld stainless?

They just used the supplied U-clamps during the install. They only welded the tips on, so I guess they did.

I'll upload some pics of the modified lateral brace later. I'm so happy it's back on again, what a difference it makes. :car:

Not sure yet. I would love to get Transgo out of the way, but that's time consuming. I would say definitely try to get the mid brace and rear tie bars put on this weekend I hope! You itchin' to come over? :desire:

Looks great Andrew! I really wish I could visit Chicago one day and take a ride both Andy's and Andrew's 45's.

Here are some pics of my modified GTSPEC rear lateral brace. Since I installed the Stillen, the bar would not clear anymore. Instead of cutting into the exhaust I opted to go a different route. I found a local shop by me that does a lot of custom work. This job was a piece of cake for them. They basically created a 90 degree angle cut for me so the exhaust would clear. Since then, I dropped my car to the lowest settings the Kido can go. Since the lateral brace is the lowest point of the car, I have only three inches of ground clearance left! Next up is to get the rear tie and mid chassis braces installed soon. Overall, I'm really glad I had the brace re-welded for me. This shop did such a great job that it opened up new avenues for me to go down. I've discussed with them to modify my existing GTSPEC front strut bar into a four point brace instead. Also going to have them make a custom sub-brace (rear mid brace) for me too. But the four-point brace project will come first. So if anyone is serious about getting a custom front four point bar, stay tuned!

so what would happen if you were on the highway and clipped something accidentally? I hope the bar would just snap right? I ask because I've ridden as a passenger when one person ran over something big on the highway at night and heard another person do it....heck recently we had also a iS wife clip a fallen exhaust that caused the tank hole.

Any install plans this weekend?

Not this weekend, but next though. Justin coming to town on the 22nd for Kiddo Coilovers, LED signal mirror and rear lateral install. Have time to stop by Ian?

Wow, the modified GTSPEC Rear Lateral looks good. Glad to see you got it back on. Yeah, I will try to get the Mid Chassis brace off my 35 for you! The two front "locking" nuts are spinning inside of the frame that I can't put anything into it to hold the nut. Those that install the Mid Chassis will know what I'm talking about.
