Wow! Great DYI! That's so clever & looks very nice! I didn't like how the original DTRL slot had a second housing for the bulbs so the CREE bulbs wouldn't look as bright but this solves that problem too! Would there be any legal issues (as in it's against the law to...) with this mod??

Shouldn't be any legal issues at all as a matter of fact the new location for the turn signal makes them even more visible from a wider angle.

My only concern is when I'm driving in heavy fog the added light may reflect back at me. If this proves to be an issue I will probably install a switch to kill the DTRL lights.

Excellent DIY! This clarifies the "how and why" and should help many of the post GB purchasers through the install phase.....

Problem!!!!

Houston we have a problem. I went for a test drive to try out new lights and after a 10 minute drive when I pulled into my driveway one of the new CREE bulbs started flickering. I pulled the bulb and made sure connection was good and swapped sides and problem persisted.

So I pulled both bulbs and put the OE DTRL in the new spot not as bright but still better than the previous location. I hope they can work this out.
FYI these bulbs run very hot.

MTN, you think the flicker could be caused by the contact wires that had to be moved over? Can you somehow bypass that connection with a couple lengths of wire or something to test the bulb itself?

I tried moving the position of the wires and swaped to other side connector with no difference, Also when the problem started the light was working fine and I saw it change.

Also this is the same thing that happened to Jeff with the 912

Bro, I look at every thread. I didn't reply to yours because I don't have an answer for you. I've never seen a tie rod make a sound like that. :dontknow:

I'm wondering whether the contact wires are completely intact after bending them over, installing them into the socket, super-heating them, and then bouncing them around in the headlight assembly. JLC says they test each bulb, and it worked when you installed it initially. That said, heat and those bent contact wires seem like the obvious/easy culprits...

They worked fine for 10 minutes. Jeff had the same issue with his reverse bulb.
