Hey iS

I am kind of getting sick of how my HIDs look in the factory Fog housings, one is brighter, they scatter the light, one day theyll be bluer than the next...and I've been through 7 ballasts like 10 bulbs my kp tech module burned out...its just been a nightmare.

So a friend of mine who is into jeeps (has a wranger all off-roaded out) gave me the idea of buying a standalone driving lamp/fog light/ etc. aftermarket and dropping it into the factory foglight location. For example, Buying HELLA or PIAA lamps and retrofitting them into the OEM foglight location....HELLA even has projectors than can maybe be made to fit...
Overall, the light output will be way better, and since these actually come with EVERYTHING, there wont be as many problems....
What do you guys think? here are example of what I am talking about...

haha, bro, there's a difference between "offering" to help and not saying "no" to being asked to help :tongue (2):
seriously though, check out piaa's driving lights, I've seen some really nice little lights from them & something that I considered among a few different options, they make some bad ass lights but there HID lights are pretty expensive too. like I told you though the bumper cover will need to be cut to fit them but that's not a big deal really, I think it would def look sick with the right driving or even fog light... hellas are also good, like those bi zenons

I like the projector idea. That would be very cool if you could make it fit in there.

yeah, I like the projector also. That would be cool if you can make it fit someway.

yeah the projector in there would be pretty sweeetttttt

I know I know, hence the " :tongue (2): " after the sentence haha...
I'm looking through HELLA and PIAA catalogs and stuff now.... need to go out and measure:tup:

idk jordan.. i rather install mini missile launchers

on a serious note - this would be a pretty sick mod and cant wait to see where it goes. Have a safe semester abroad too :smug:

We're on the same page, which is why I am having bi-xenon projectors retrofitted into eBay halogen angel eye housings. It's already done, but the output is being tweaked.

So if you're up for it, buy the cheap halogen projector lights on ebay and swap out the projector with real HID projectors:

I'll let you guys know when I get them installed. The work is being done by Marek.

The micro 70 led is kinda cool too. the first is too rugged looking for the fx. maybe on a pathfinder :tongue (2):

They are similar to the stock ones lol but the output is probably ALOT better...

Sounds interesting Ed. Curious as to how they will turn out, hopefully they will be bright enough to work as fog lights.

Sorry Ed that its taking so long with them. Those G1 ebay projectors come with blurry Z shape output. I wanted to fix that and make a straight clear line. Im working on them for couple months and still cant get the perfect output. I think its not possible, but im still trying.

With a lot of drilling and fitting they looks like this:

Those are bi-xenons projectors and they are designed to work in headlights. So you can drive on them even without your headlights being on:wink (2):

There is a lot of great and better projectors than G1. Like mini h1, tsx, fx, fx-r, e55 etc. They produce great light output with small modifications. But you can not fit them into FX fog without remodeling the bumper :( Those G1 can be fitted and install and replace as a fog itself. The only bad thing about G1 that the cut off line get on my nerves. Originally they are ready to install on the headlights and no one change anything with them, but for me the original light output that they produce is bad.. For me everything has to be perfect and has to be done my way :)

haha, you are a perfectionist!

So I still am interested in doing this...I may go to a local truck light place and see what they have (im in central PA so there are plenty of truck shops and auto stores)
When I go to try and fix my HID/fogs I may measure to see exactly what can fit, and see if I need to trim/relocate the washer fluid, which would be blocking the pass side foglight from anything too deep being dropped in.... Time to visit some subie/truck/rally forums to see which brands prevail
