Ok, so my FX is about to hit 93,000 miles. I want to switch to synthetic oil, but not sure what grade of oil to put.

thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate it. 93,000 miles and she is still kickin nicely. Never thought I would have a car with this many miles. I still enjoy driving her and not bored at all.
Don't stop modding, once you do you will start getting bored. Every time I do a new mod, my love is renewed.

not that I know of. how would I know if I'm burning oil? oil level right?
it's always hard checking oil level with the dip stick. it all comes out full of oil.

but yeah mobil 1 is what i use and i buy it from costco unless autozone or somewhere else has it for cheeper..

m1 also makes a full synthetic high mileage, i always end up buying the cheapest namebrand full synthetic tho.

And 5w-30 is the OEM recommended weight. My personal favorite is 5w-40, but harder to come by and not as many oil "deals" at that weight.

i have found...
that a 5w40 Mixed Fleet HDEO gives a much better UOA (Used Oil Analysis) than any other oil i have used. currently have a change of Delvac1 in it, last oil change was from M1 TDT. would also recommend RotellaT6, which can be obtained at a very reasonable price in jugs at walmart.
100k and doesn't use a drop...

Interesting, good to know. When I used Valvoline 5w-40, I never had to top off my oil between oil changes (3,000-5,000 miles).
5w-30, I have to top it off every 1,500 miles or so.

what do you guys think about the Mobile 1 "Green" 0w-30 oil .Suppose to be more fuel efficient.

m1 green says it gives 2% mileage gains - i'm using that at the moment + K&N drop-in and my mpg did go up slightly according to the trip computer, but everytime i fillup i do the math in my head and i swear its always ~15mpg no matter what the trip computer says.
