The cushion doesn't really apply in school zones. Kids are more important than a driver's urge to drive a little over the limit.

The laser detection is useless. Only very rarely can laser be detected ahead of time, and that's only if you're lucky. Most of the time, if the laser alert goes off, you're getting a ticket. Even if you have to disable that feature because of the ICC, you're not really losing anything.

Mine is a laser diffuser and detector, not just detector. the only tickets I have gotten are two for radar, and that was one before the detector and another because it wasnt working and I had to replace the main chip

i am not talking about speeding in school zone with the lights flashing that means strictly 30 mph. i pass two school zones, no kids around, no lights and 4 stop signs about 3/4 mi. apart. like i said, there's always like 3 or 4 bike cops hiding somewhere with their radar guns. and because the traffic is so low, they just wave their hand asking me to pull over so they can tell me i was over the limit by 2 or 3 miles. i already have 2 warnings, 3rd one will send me to court, this is what i think is ridiculous.

Oh...well in that case, that sucks. Active school zones mean really strict rules, but I speed through inactive ones all the time without any trouble.

The Escort 8500 x50 has been real good to me and my wallet. Saved me countless times on local roads with overzealous locals esp when I visit friends/family in Northern NJ places like Bergen County. I love this radar and it's has been one of my best investments. Have mine going on 5-6 years now. Not one speeding ticket (as I knock on wood)

If you get pulled over and the cop notices you have a radar detector, can you get ticketed for having one? I don't know too much about them and if they're illegal to have.

I have not had a problem with my intelli cruise but then again I have only used that feature once because when your lowered its pretty much useless and realigning or tilting it is not possible without some modification. So I only use the normal cruise which has been fine for me. Also, I like the arrows more than having a GPS but I would definitely like the memory feature of the escort.

You don't live in Chicago where there are photo cameras at every other stop light=) The yellow runs illegally slow (not really but at the minimum), and the city of Chicago banks from this.

I didn't know you could do manual vs I-Cruise. My I-Cruise works fine lowered then again I re-aligned the sensor a little because it would keep beeping and failing.

If my I-cruise fails (rain/semi's) -- it beeps and I have to turn my cruise control off. How do you active the manual cruise (vs foot on pedal).

Radar detectors specifically are only illegal in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Some other states have laws against putting stuff on your windshield, but for the most part, you're fine. However, if the cop isn't in a good mood, the driver is more likely to get a ticket if the cop sees a radar detector, since a lot of them think that the owner thinks it gives them a license to speed.

To activate the manual or normal cruise control just press the cruise button for 2-3 seconds or until the ICC icon disappears.

In Chicago, do you get ticketed if you are already in the intersection when the light is yellow but turns red?

Ha, have a car for 7 years and you still learn something new! Thanks Pierce. In my country driving the ICC sensor gets filled with bugs and I can't use cruise.

Yes and no, depends on who reviews the tape. It might take your picture but the reviewer might see you're turning left and will not mail you a ticket I believe.

All camera pictures have to be reviewed by I think two city workers.

Here in the great NW it's not even an issue to find a back road with no traffic or police. I rarely if ever speed in the city and keep my freeway speeds to within 15% or so of the posted limits. No radar detector or tickets in over 6 years.

'None' looks like a good brand of radar detector, 18 freaking people have them, more than escort...., where can I get it?

PNI Sensoro Traveller

~$100 at Costco, it's been trusty for 5 years, great performance. I don't know about what's out now, but back when I bought it it was ranked with the big dogs at a fraction of the price.
