Slow seatbelt retractor

:frown: So this drives me crazy . I have to feed the shoulder belt in almost every time
because it won't retract by itself ! Anybody else have this problem ? Reminds me of
a vacuum cord that won't go in like it's supposed to . Is the solution a new mechanism ?

yes, they suck.... my wife & my mother-in-law are always slamming the door on a non fully retracted belt too which drives me nuts... I of course feed mine in but I agree, they are really bad compared to most other cars

I think that seatbelts have a lifetime warranty from the dealer. Go to them and see if they need replacing. Sometimes just a cleaning is needed.

^ Seatbelts themselves maybe , but the mechanisms I doubt it !
I'm just thinking like a lawyer would when they proof read any ''warranty'' !
I'm going to check with the dealer tomorrow and I'll let you know ....

Well, the dealer here in Victoria B.C says there's a 10 year warranty on this item,
free replacement !! They tried to tell me the belt just needs ''cleaning'' (BS) but
then he came back to the phone and said we'll order it , it's a free replacement .
So, there you go ! Aiya is correct .

I had mine replaced 3 months ago. Dealer never gave me any issues, just replaced it when I complained about the slow retraction

Looks that way . Here's the scary thought..... my '45 was in some sort of fracas,
probably a B&E or accident - window glass shards were found at the seat tracks
whan I was searching for a lost ipod between the seat and console. So were the
airbags deployed ? If so , were they replaced with legit ones ? How can you tell
that when the next crash happens , all airbags will deploy properly ? There's no
way of checking what sensor was tripped , is there ? :err:

If the airbags have ever deployed, the dash would have been replaced. That probably would have been done by an Infiniti dealer, so they'd have records of doing the work.

what about the mechanism that locks the belt when braking hard? My passenger side seat belt keeps the passenger locked in the whole time. they are unable to lean forward.

Mines also terrible with the retracting and have to feed it all the time.. Has anyone tried goin to the dealer for a replacement? And up until when are they still doing free replacements?

Yep. I've heard some say it's lifetime and some say 10 year warranty. Either way, the FX will still be covered. Just let the dealer know and they should take care of it.

I just confirmed with the Infiniti USA that there is in fact a 10 year warranty on seat-belts and safety components. I will be fixing mine under the warranty next month, they both retract very slow:tongue:

Just took mine in this week and they serviced the seat belts for free. The SA mentioned something about a tsb but I didn't bother questioning them further.
