2004 FX35
Hey everyone, I'm deciding whether to purchase a FX35 or not. So I looked around for a forum and found this. So I'm here to research on the reliability, features, and aftermarket options. Overall I think it looks like a great cross-over SUV but I've seen mixed reviews on Edmunds.com. So I'll see if this site can convince me not, lol.

Welcome to IS. We have a meet next week, check us out if you have time, please see the link: ///4411

Welcome to the scene. I think you will be convinced to get one

Thanks for the invite, but I'll be busy that weekend. But it seems fun, I'll try to attend your next meet. Nice to see there are local members though.

What other cars are you considering? That might help us as far as input....

But I have 60K+ and no issues really. Its the best of both worlds - performance and cargo room. Like someone said in another thread its a G35/350Z with a backpack.

Well, I was initially looking for a luxury sedan since I was getting bored of coupes. Then I thought about getting a truck or SUV since I tend to go on vacation a lot. So after browsing Cars.com, I found the FX35 and thought it looked really nice. But overall, I'm looking for luxury, 4 doors and a decent amount of cargo space. Hope that helps lol.

You will love the FX. Cargo space is plenty, check out my threads on recent large appliances I moved (6.5 cu ft dryer - 1 trip, 36" TUBE tv AND the stand - 1 trip)

You'll be staring at your FX every day/night.

Almost 80K miles with no major issues. I'm able to enjoy the luxury of it, and the performance side as well. Been to fancy gatherings, drove on a race track...and raced on a drag strip. What else can I ask for...other than more time to drive it . Welcome to :iS:.

Thanks everyone.

What would be a good year to get? I'm thinking about getting a 2006 FX35 since there seems to be a lot of those for sale around here. But is there a certain year that is better aside from the 2009 FX35? Also how is insurance for everyone? Thanks in advance.

welcome

Welcome! I was just looking over some of the tax credits that are in this just passed Economic Stimulus package. If you looking into buying new...

New automobile purchases -
Q:
I've heard that the stimulus allows me a 'pass' on paying sales tax on any new vehicle I purchase. This sounds too good to be true = is it?
A:
Yes, and no. You'll still have to pay the sales tax, but the new law will allow you to deduct sales tax on new vehicle purchases through 2009 on your tax return.

Included in the definition of "new vehicle" are cars, light trucks, recreational vehicles and motorcycles qualify.

And, the deduction can be claimed as an itemized deduction or as an additional standard deduction for non-itemizers. The deduction is limited to the lower of (1) the sales tax paid or (2) the sales tax that would have been paid on a vehicle costing $49,500.

Phaseout of eligibility begins for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of $125,000 and $250,000 for married couples filing jointly.

I haven't gotten the FX yet, I'm planning to test drive a few this week. I haven't been able to find a nice low mileage white or black one. Lots of silver ones, so I may end up getting a silver one. :(

BTW, thanks everyone for the warm welcomes and helpful information.

welcome. I believe the 2006+ FX has an updated interior (Center console is different, controls are different and if you are Non-Nav you still get a pretty colored lcd screen, and some minor cosmetic upgrades (Bigger chrome trim on doors, chrome trim on F bumper, different rims, different grille)
