Windshield Wipers

Got a new windshield put in today and i think it might be a good idea to get some new blades, old ones are toast. So, recommend me something:cool:

Try the Bosch Icons. I've had them for a year with no issues. Of course, I avoid driving in the rain and only put about 8K Km on my FX per year so they might not be as good as I think. They don't squeek though.

Had them on my first car and they were great. they are made so that at higher speeds, the wiper catches the air and is pressed against the windshield for optimum performance.

Let's resurrect this bad boy!

Tried Rain-X wipers.. only good until they freeze over, and the way they're designed - it seems to happen much easier than with other wipers.
Never tried Bosch, but heard good things..
PIAA has been hit/miss with me on my previous vehicles.

Here are the new big boys in town:

Has anyone took the plunge and bought these? They're all over eBay.. and sometimes the cheapy nobrand stuff can do wonders..

I'm getting tempted.

you should be fine with OEM blades. i replaced mine with bosch from autozone. don't have any complaints to make. rarely use the wipers in TX.

OEM blades should be fine. If not get Rain-X Latitude blades.

What about new OEM blades? They are under $20 from online

I get it, OEM blades are good... :tongue (2):

There's also a certain amount of aesthetics that plays a role in my decision..
OEM blades aren't pretty like frameless ones.. and in my experience, not as effective.

^^^ that's actually exactly why I just bought OEM wiper blades, because they are frameless and don't have marketing wording on them (at least in the 2nd gen). When I'm driving or passenger view out the front window, I don't want them seeing "BOSCH" or "RAIN-X" or have them some color, or anything. Just regular good wiper blades. I like having the stock look when it comes to that kind of stuff.

By the way, I did some research online (you should as well) and found one site where they performed a test of like 20-30 wiper blades. Ironically, all of them started failing after about 3 months of a lot of use except for one that had this special thing, but looked like crap and it was cheap too...none of the big name ones. Turns out a lot of the high named ones just are paying for their marketing....just saying what the results turned out to be.

Don't think the OEM ones for the 1st gen were frameless.. I may be wrong, it's been a while since I seen them. It bothers me when companies pour all of their money in marketing and neglect R&D..

All I know is those eBay ones may be a diamond in the rust, but I'm guessing nobody's tried them yet as they're not called "Rain-X" or "Xtreme Plus" - maybe I'll give em a shot.:wink (2):

If you use OEM blades when they stop wiping good you can buy the wiper refills from the dealer (or equivelent place you buy parts from) for less $$$ next time.

^ I don't think that's an option for the 2nd gen. Dealer didn't offer that and I don't see it on infiniti parts usa.

^ thanks, how did you find those product numbers? In infinitipartsusa, nothing comes up under those part numbers, but do online on other sites. Looks like it's just about 3 bucks cheaper to get insert as opposed to the full thing.

I got the numbers from work, I work for Nissan / Infiniti parts.:nerd (2):
