grounding kits

i'm looking into getting a grounding kit, just wanna know which ones are good and to see if brands matter since they are just wires right? Also does it make a hugh difference with it? My friend has a grounding kit on a G35 and he said for AT you 'll feel the acceleration better.

2 words: Placebo Effect

I never have and never will believe in "grounding kits." The resistance between two points connected to the chassis is negligible. You can't make negligible "more negligible" because by definition this resistance is already so small it can be disregarded.

I still stand by my opinion of placebo :tongue:

Clean any corrosion and/or gunky buildup off of your stock grounding wires (yes, you have stock ground wires that do this exact same thing) and you'll likely see the same "smoothness" effects.

If your car was a 1987 Lincoln Mark VIII, then I'd say sure, a grounding kit will do you some justice. Likewise, unbolting, cleaning and then re-bolting your stock grounds will give the same effect, if not, better since there's a whole hell of a lot more ground wires that come stock than there are added with this "mod."
 
You could be right, . . . it could be in ours heads. The mind is a curious thing. Either way, went through all effort, so they stay in. My FX is suuuper smooth . . Is it the wires? the syn oil? the tune? or all of the above. Or maybe it's the TBS! :tongue:
Either or, everything in combination just works.
 
I just contacted Grounding Gear in Canada, and I'm thinking of ordering it. Too bad they want Money Order. It just takes that much longer to get it. Pay Pal would have been nice.

I thought about getting several feets of 4 AWG Monster Cable (ebay $21) and several Marine Grade wire lugs and do it myself. Esentionally its the same. But I figured, it will end up the same after I put all the time and effort in it.

Like GTO-Dave says, it's a combination of all of the above. Every little bit counts. And once you start, it'll never, never, be enough.
 

Most kits you see out there ($7 to $50) are branched out of a single distribution block. His is much like the Grounding Grear kit which is daisy changed. Most Ligitimate grounding kits are about $150 (based on when I checked) and that's not installed. You still have to install it or get it installed. Key word here is "CUSTOM"
 
you can also do a "custom' job yourself you are willing. We here can help if anyone needs it. (many resources). Basically, you need some high gauge wire and crimp ends. I did my kit myself from parts and cost me about ~$50. I followed instructions from (mounting points) a doc I have. PM me if you need it.

I looked into that. I was gonna do 4AWG wires with Copper Lugs and at the end of the day with all time crimping and getting it installed and all, it was not worth the headache. But for if you have the time and the paitiance, go for it.

Did you pass the cable through the firewall to reach the ecu ground in cabin? I saw that in a thread but it was a 45 and I didn't see that in my 35..

that started at $120 i believe, and he's been lowering it. i may just look into the DIY one, as i feel i am mechanically adept enough :biggrin:
