Painting Rims

Just wondering if you had the tires remounted recently?

When I had my front tires replaced, I noticed the similar stains from the "liquid" they use to lube the tire bead.
I was able to clean it right away, but maybe you didn't notice or something and they "baked" on?

Suck no matter what. :err:

Unfortunately not. :frown:
It's actually time for some new tires, but right now I'll have to resolve this first.

I just picked up my wheels from the bodyshop today.
They are not yet finished, due to some retouching need from mounting the rims...the place that mount & balanced them scratched them!
The bodyshop "will" be taking care of it as soon as the MirraChrome paint arrives from ALSA sometime next week.

Here is a few pics that I took so you can get an idea of what they look like:

My calipers should be next...painting them red with G2 caliper paint.

Let me know what you think.

do they look darker in person? right now looks like stock 20 "sport" rims.

Thanks!
This is not the same angle, but gives you a clear look at my "stock" 20's before painting them Hyperblack...you tell me.

Thanks everyone for the nice complements!
I'm glad that they turned out as well as they did.

If you didn't know, they are mounted on Hankook RH06 274/45/20.

Looks sharp!! Enjoyed meeting you yesterday :)

It was nice meeting you too.
Hope that we can meet up again at the NEFX meet.

Looks good! Now painting the door handles that color would be badass as well

Not risking on messing with the stock chrome...if I did do the handles, I would have to do all the other chrome parts too. :err:
This MirraChrome + Candy Black from ALSA isn't cheap and I don't think the bodyshop will do it.

Sorry guys I was too lazy to come by. Good that everything went well..

Thanks for lending me the wheels while I went through this "major" pain in the @ss problem! Glad that I could help you back in some sort of way.

so now im thinking about painting my wheels, will Real (not rattle can) single or two stage paint come off during tire installation? i know powder coating is the answer but the coater i normally use is just too far for me to deal with on this, especially since the car will be on jacks during the 2-3 weeks coat time...BB

UPDATE:

Looks like the paint is peeling...the MirraChrome is not sticking to the black undercoat.

I stop by the bodyshop and they say that they followed the instruction from ALSA to the "T" and thought it was strange to be instructed to buff the wheels after the clearcoat on top of the black undercoat instead of roughing it up before painting the MirraChrome.

I took a few pictures of the peeling wheel, so the bodyshop can email it to ALSA.
Looks like it's back to the drawing board....

They said it will take at least 3 weeks to have this job done.

I'm in a spot now, due to the fact I won't have Ege's wheels to borrow anymore!
Anyone in MA willing to let me borrow theirs? :embarrassed:
