Laser Red owners?

Just went through this thread and realized there's only one photo in here! That's crazy since it's a "post your LR FX here" thread!

I pulled a couple photos from other sites/threads just to start off the posting. Of course, here's mine:

Other members with LR - please post!!! Would love to see them all in one place...

Jumbo - have you ever thought of making your rails black? (Not that you don't have anything else going on. I have to check your turbo update.)

Yes, absolutely I have thought about it. Originally, I wanted to chrome the rails because they are the only brushed aluminum trim on the whole car. Thought I might as well match the door handles, body trim, grill, wheels, etc. Never really made any decision on it tho. Like you said - I have other things going on that take priority. Looking at the red FXs that have the rails painted, I don't like them as much. I feel like the black/red theme is less classy - less luxury - less Infiniti, than the OEM color package.

But my "vision" for the completed FX includes painting all the gray body trim to body color, as well as inside the headlight housings. I was going to include the front wind deflector as well - one member here has his wind deflector painted to body color and I think it's a big improvement over the stock wind deflector look. The FXs that have painted the trim look more classy to me, more like a Mercedes than a Jeep - which is what the OEM grey body cladding reminds me of (I had a grand cherokee with grey side cladding).

I've toyed with the idea of removing the rails completely as well, but on the FXs I have seen that have them removed I sometimes don't like the look from certain angles. I haven't been sold on any one solution to the, "roof rail dilemma". Fortunately it's not that big of an issue.

Mines came w the black rails n being that the colors on mines is black red n chromes or shiny i think it flows. I really need to update that pic there are some changes where i no longer look like that. Bc's black led mirrors blacked out emblems blacked headlights.

Yeah Beast - post em up, man!

In general the LR FX is hot - no matter what guys go with. That older picture there is a bit too much black for me, but I still think it looks good. I do think you've made good decisions - the wheels have both black & chrome, rails black, handles chrome, grill black, emblem chrome - consistent.

Would like to see recent photos - a shot from the front, side & back + close ups of anything you want...

I hear you. I think red with aluminum trim can make the red look a little lighter or duller. Black acsents seem to make the same red look richer in color. Just one man's opinion.

Right on though - Reds are hot!

My wife and I spotted a Laser FX while we were in Cannon Beach this weekend. It was the first time we'd seen one in person.

Pang- Where is it leaking oil from? Can you see the location?

---------------------

So today I bought a book online - 396 pages of all cars, all production numbers through 2005 - which is fine with me since Laser Red was produced only in 03 & 04. Luckily I only paid $5. There are no color numbers - D'oh! Only total production by year, so here's $5 worth of relevant information from this book. At least I get to keep it as a resource. The data goes back to 1945 - all makes and models domestic and foreign. There are some rare small production cars in there with a few small photos. Pretty cool for five bucks, I guess.

Infiniti FX U.S. Sales: 2003 – 27,637 2004 – 30,964

As a comparison, the 350Z US Sales in the same years:

2003 – 36,728 2004 – 30,690

This info doesn't even tell us how many were made - only US Sales. Still looking for color production numbers. Today I went to the Infiniti USA site and requested production numbers for the Laser Red FX in 03 & 04. Got back an email receipt that said they would send an answer soon. Hope so!

Well done Jumbo!
Since you and I first discussed this subject a couple of weeks ago, I have literally spent hours on the research. Props for following thru. I still have acouple of places to poke around, but it make take a while as it is printed text and not internet or computer based. It feels like doing research for a term paper in the olde days. (Horrible memories from before this whole computer fad kicked in!) If I find any Laser Red numbers, you will be the first to know.
Thanks for sharing - The hunt continues!

Yes - the oil cooler is at the base of the filter. Could it be that the filter is not on correctly? If the threads are not in straight, you will definitely have a leak.

If the oil cooler seals have failed, you'll probably be replacing the cooler. Not sure if you can buy new seals.
