Spacers with Stock Wheels

So I was'nt going to, but my wants over came my needs once again.

I want to add some spacers to my stock wheels w/ H&R springs.
Am I safe going with 20mm all around? I think jbaker did this but didn't here any thing further. If I'm adding them to my stock wheels, would I have to worry about adding those ring things as well?

I believe your safe up to 25mm just as long as you replace your stock studs to the longer ones. You dont need hubcentric rings if you put the right spacer on, H&R's are already hubcentric.
 
the H&R do come with the longated studs. If not you will have to buy some. I think that they are about 1.50 each.

Just remember that if you take them to a place to get them installed, they might want to charge you over 100.00 to get them done.
 
If I have to 'press' new studs into the hub for thicker spacers, will there be an issue when I get new wheels and have the correct offset eliminating the spacers? Can I use the same studs? :embarrassed:

If you go back to a proper offset sized rim I would replace the studs with the stock sized since they are so cheap and you wouldn't have to worry about sacrificing safety by cutting the studs shorter.

Keemo, I still have my longer studs on the FX after I removed my 15mm H&R spacers almost 2 years ago for my 22" iforged. I have had no issues. Just have to remember that you may have to get longer lug nuts to accommodate for the longer studs once you get your new wheels with a specific offset. But will really be dependent on the offset so cross that bridge when you get to it.
 
Where can I get a new set (20) of longer studs? I don't want to get the Nismo's again. It may just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but it looks like my studs are slightly bent. I wouldn't know unless I take them out and I don't want to take them out and find out they are bent only to put them right back in.

Anybody know off hand? Ichiba and Nismo are the only two who make them?
 
DRM Style?

I bought my 25mm Ichiba wheel spacers here . If you get the H&R make sure they are the DRM TYPE wheel spacers. They are plug and play, you dont have to change the studs and you can install it yourself.

Hi Guys... please help a Noob!

From what I gather, installing 20mm H&R spacers all around on stock 20's (non-lowered vehicle) will give the best look... Am I on the right track. I pick up my new FX on Friday and want to order these ASAP.

Any help is appreciated. The best price I have found is around $130 for the pair. Is that about right?

Hi Guys... please help a Noob! Does anyone know the difference between DRM and DRS type spacers? I found H&R spacers on eBay and they all are DRS type.

Wheel Spacers Which Are Available
Eibach and H&R offer four main types of alloy wheel spacers: DR, DRA, DRS and DRM. All the spacers can be fitted easily, however the DRS kit will require the hubs to be taken off the car to remove the existing wheel studs and replace them with the extended wheel studs which are supplied. If you decide to use this kit we would recommend you use a professionally trained mechanic to undertake this work. In certain circumstances it is worth getting the DRM kit, as this removes the need to replace the studs, as the wheel spacer is in fact bolted onto your hub with the use of special slim line nuts. This enables the alloy wheel to be bolted to the spacer to ensure maximum safety and security. Please find details of the four main types of alloy wheel spacers below:


DR = Wheel Spacer (for 10 – 40 mm track widening)

According to EG3 the DRM wont fit unless they are >20mm, so it looks like I am left with the the following two options... the 20mm DRS or the 25mm DRM. Merchant's post says that the DRM is the safest, however I dont want the wheels sticking out past the fenders.

Which option would be the best for keeping the stock 20's, but with a flush, more agressive look? the 20mm DRS or the 25mm DRM?

Get regular type H&R or Ichiba (V1) spacers. They are the basic spacers with the hub centering rings. They're also the safest. The last type you see over there in Merchant's post will have 5 pressed in bolts like this one (Ichiba V2)

The hub gets bolted to the empty holes and wheel gets bolted to the pressed in bolts. This means that only the spacer's aluminum holds the entire tension of the car. => Not safe esp if you drive your FX hard.

As I said before, get Ichiba V1 or H&R spacers specific for the Nissan/Infiniti 5 lug cars. I went through 2 sets of Ichiba V2 (15mm & 20mm. Both required cut studs) and finally I'm using 15mm Ichiba V1 now and happy with it. Project kicks is another good brand of spacers. A 20mm spacer will look best IMO. JBaker's ride has the 20mm ones with his stock 20s and 18s. Check out his pics.

As a reference, this was my ride in the winter with 20" stockers, 20mm spacers and 275/40/20 tires. Stock size (265/50/20) or 275/45/20 size tires will fill the gap more and look better.
