vibration on steering wheel when braking

So the other day i was driving on the freeway going about 90 and when i step on the brakes the steering wheel vibrates and when i let go of the brakes its fine. Is there something wrong with me brakes?

Exact same problem I have on my other car. It's definitely rotors. My Mazda is getting vibration from light braking at around 60 mph.

If you have to get rotors, because the rotors you have are pass the point of no return, consider upgrading. I recently bought rotors and they are squealing like crazy whenever its cold and wet.

+1 on the rotors.
How many times have you machined them?

well i got the car used and i got it back in 5/08 so less than one year for me. when i got the car is was at 18k and it was a 06. i had never done any break jobs on this car yet and i went to the mechanic today and he said if only the steering wheel is vibrating and not the pedal then i need to get my tires checked and also get an alignment. is that true?????

You said it was when you're braking only? That has nada to do with tires/align.
I say find a new mechanic before he changes your water pump also :err:

Find a new friend while you're at it

i knew that guy since 4th grade and i'm 23 right now, he went to Wyotech and got all is ASE cert. but he is not working as a mechanic. Really good friend of mine, like a brother from another mother. But i'll get things checked out before i get the rotors machined. Infiniti was going to charge me 330 including brake pad, i dont know if thats a good deal or not. But he did said if the brakes are warped the pedal should vibrate as well as the sterering wheel but the pedal doesn't, so i dont know:confused:

Still sounds like the rotot\rs. Be cautious with the dealer. They sell brakes to everyone w/ every visit. $330 is expensive for one side only. You can get brakes anywhere with a compitent mechanic.

Its 330 for all of them and i'm sorry is a nissan dealer not an infiniti dealer

Brake pedal is not connected to the wheels by a steel rod. Even if there was any vibration, it'll be gone through brake fluid and brake booster before getting to your foot. If you ONLY feel the vibration while braking, the problem IS from the rotors unless you have a major brake system problem. Even if it was that, you'd still start from rotors.. Most of us went through with it. The Infiniti dealership even replaced a whole set of rotors on my FX under warranty (It was around 12-14K miles back then).. Get your rotors machined if they aren't already are (you said you got the FX used). ANY good shop can do it easily. You're not stuck with dealerships..

Gto is right its probley your warped rotors and at infiniti it run $577.00 pads and rotors the rotors are like $280.00 of that cost. Donot listen to tires i am a service advisor for infiniti at metro infiniti any questions feel free to give me a call 626 599-7528 direct line

Turn Powerslot rotor???

Our 03 FX35 has Powerslot rotors with Hawk Cermaic pads. I am getting the vibration again. About 20k on them so far. Powerslot told me to go F- myself. They said the warped rotor is caused by install or cleanliness. They might be half right. The same thing happened to my old OEM rotors. Is this a caliper design problem?

Can I get the slotted rotors turned? Or is replacing them the only option?

Thanks for the help...
