Stage 4 or TechnoSquare Tune???

Me Again,:embarrassed:

I have the car sitting at Precision Z, ready to install and everyone is in disagreement.

You opinion counts, please put your 2-cents in. Here are my choices.

A. Upgrade Stage 2 Stillen SC to Stage 4. Fore go the Dyno tune by Tadashi @ TechnoSquare. And end up Spending $2200 in parts and labor. (And might have to deal with Stillen)

B. Change 6 OEM injectors to 380CC, Fuel Pump, and new Pulley and fore go the 7th injector. Have Tadashi DynoTune it and end up with about $3200 in parts and labor.

my 2 pennies:

1 do it right the first time. engines runs great

2 save some money , no tune . maybe engine blows up

3 I definitely think a tune is a must when you go FI.

I am wondering if you can just do a stage 4 later after everything is tuned to stage 2, get the feel of it and the power. Then upgrade to stage 4 and feel the difference.

But my opinion is just that, I don't have FI. But that will come in the future. (when I find a big bag of money :nerd:)

I am wondering if you can just do a stage 4 later after everything is tuned to a lower stage, get the feel of it and the power. Then upgrade to stage 4 and feel the difference. So I would go with A minus the stage 4, but if you have the need for speed than spend away.

Here is the deal,

1. Tadashi will not tune with the Stillen Box in-place. He wants to work with the Stock ECU.
2. I would still have to buy the Stage 3 pully for $89 which I was told I'm not going to be able to get since I technically did not buy the Stillen Supercharger. Stillen wants S/N and enduser info to sell parts for the SC.
3. I cannot stay with stage 2 since I have DC headers installed.

4. I just Dyno'd today for 246 (peak at 260) at the wheels in 3rd gear at 6500 rpm. That's with Headers, Nismo Exhaust, JWT popcharger, and 1/2" Iso Thermal Spacer.

Protune > Stillen Box (always)

Get rid of the 7th injector, stillen box, and get a custom tune by Tadashi. If you need a stage 3 pulley I have one.

sounds like you will need
*a tune from Technosquare no matter
*Stillen support is needed
*must upgrade past stage 2

if money is no object, get it to stage 4 and flatbed it to technosquare. or you could of just taken the whole car there (too late for that right?).

Whatever you decide on from other member opinions and yours, I hope everything turns out awesome. Post some pics when you get it done. good luck and Godspeed

thanks guys,

It were up to me, here's what I'd do.

1. I'd replace the 7th injector with a 760cc.
2. get the walbro 255lph. (although Justin at WC Nissan has a thing against walbro)
3. get the Stage 4 pulley.
4. Have Tadashi have his way with the Stillen Box and the ECU. My Understanding is that the Stillen box is a piggie back and not a replacement.

This would be best of both worlds. However;

If the Stillen box is in Tadashi will not touch it.

Dose anyone one know Sam at Stillen? Looks like the only real info always comes from him. According to him, Stillen tunes their SC more on the Rich side. and Lean is where the HP is. Also, Lean is where the "Blown-up engines are"

Stillen told me they don't touch the box. I just learned today, that they were tuning a G35 for Switched Programing (Streen/Track)

I wish I had the time to help out, the next few weeks are tough on me.

If I were in your situation.

I would install the kit as is. Get it dyno'd to see how the kit is running. I would not automatically assume the pre-loaded map is going to be really out of wack due to the exhaust mods. If you're worried about too much boost underdrive the crank and that will take away boost.

Please remember that this is my Daily ride, and as I understand yours is the same. I cannot afford to loose the engine. I'm afraid it might dye on Dyno.

Has any one at IS been to Tadashi with the Stillen S/C on? He gives me the impression that he's never seen or installed one. Isn't it true that Stillen ECU only controls the 7th injector? Couldn't he progam FX Ecu around that?

Yes mine is my daily as well.

The split second works off of boost, when it sees boost it will modify the crank angle sensor to pull timing, the 7th injector also is controlled by the split second based on boost.

I brought my FX to Tadashi a long time ago for the ecu cracking. They used to have to send ecus to Japan for cracking but that is no longer the case.

He will not try to remap your ecu for the Stillen supercharger with the split second trying to alter what he has done. The JWT TT also uses the split second to add fuel, and retard timing. I've had it on there for 2 years. On Saturday we pulled the Split second out of the car and I'm running on the remapped ecu.

Tadashi mentioned that they had to send yours back to Japan.

Fxlr8 ws nice enough to send me his stage-3 Pulley which will arrive tomorrow. I also did some more research and talked to Tadashi more.

Tadashi wants either Denso injectors or Power Enterprise which is made by Denso. He does not like RC or Bosh. Also, precision Z tellz me that for $1500 more I'm going to get a lot out of Tadashi's route plus, if I go with what I have, it's going to cost me about $500 more to replace the injectors since the SC will have to com off to put the injectors in.

I Contacted Z1, and they sell 6 PE Injectors and a 255 pump for $955; however, they don't stock it and need to special order from Japan and it takes 2 weeks.

Doing it in steps can be a little harder on the wallet, due to labor. The package pricing Z1 is offering is VERY good. PE sells the 380s and 510s 190 each.

I like you're doing research and looking at all the angles. Read fast, move slow if you're unsure of what you want to do. Do like I said with just getting the initial stuff done and verify you're safe.

Talked to Adam of Z1. He was extremely nice (as always). He is drop-shipping me the injectors from Power Enterprise in Irvine, CA. Also, overnighting the Pump. I think I want to do this right once and for all.

Next Stop Tras. Mod.

PS. If you guys have never dealt with Adam at Z1, let me tell you, it's been one my the best experiences I've had as far as customer service. And that has nothing to do with his wonderful pricing.

Sounds like its coming together for you very nicely! Tadashi will take good care of you. And rookie has been mucho helpful here as usual.

No problem. I know I speak for all the members here in saying that we are all here to help each other out. So I'm just glad that you were able to get the help needed here. Good luck with this project and I hope to see your FX at one of the meets in the near future.
