Rear Bumper Guard

Does anybody know if there is a rear bumper guard to protect the top of the bumper by the bottom of the rear hatch. I noticed today that my bumper is shot to sh1t from my dogs paws scratching it to all hell when they jump in and out of the car. I searched but didn't find a solution except for a custom made one. I didn't find any OEM option from Infiniti but I know the Murano has one. I would assume Infiniti would offer an equivalent accessory?

i was thinking of getting that clear hood guard sticker thing and trying that out on the rear hatch... couldnt hurt and wont look ugly

and nice way to get me to look at your post... i was totally expecting to see some clown rims!!

hey, you cheated with that thread title

clearbra style film is cool for that, but if your talking dog claws then maybe not enough really, have to make something cause there's nothing available

What you found is all the answers you will get.

How does every other single suv/crossover have this accessory available to them and the FX doesn't? You can bet your ass if I paid $140,000 for a Cayenne Turbo S I would be getting me some rear bumper protection love right now. AIG fu<ks me again!

Ash,

That's a great idea. And I'm being unusually serious here. You mean the clear sticky tape thing correct? These are technical terms so let me know if you don't follow. I mean like an invisible bra?

TC, I think that's what Ash recommended too. It sounds worth a try.

Clear bra is best if you don't want it noticed. Some sort of black plastic cover would be best for protection, but it would need to be custom made.

Stu,

Black rubber cover is what I first had in mind. That's what I tend to see on other vehicles. Plus it would help me cover up the current scratches that are evident there. If I could buff them out though then Ash's idea of the clear bra might work great. I would have to see how well it holds up to the dogs claws though as turbocad said. I'm willing to go with anything right now to try it out.

ps: The word "Guard" in the new title is splet rong.

i know enough to be here... but technical names sometimes escape me... yes i mean the "clearbra style film"...
and pupp... youre unusually feisty today... its funny

It seems to me that you could find some black cover for another vehicle that fits, with only minor modifications. My mom's RX has one, and I bet it would fit on the FX decently, but then you have LEXUS on your bumper. I will look tomorrow and see if it at least looks like it could work.

I seriously thought it was an excellent idea. If I can buff out the current scratches that are there now I'm going to go with your suggestion and try it out.

It's such a good idea that I would be willing to offer you a buttered muffin and adequate bus fare home.

If I can't get the scratches out then I'm going to have to go with a black rubber cover to help hide them. Modifying another manufacturers guard would work fine for me as long as it fits ok. If it says Volvo or Saab on it then that works out even better.

I'd just do that, looks really nice and OEM. No problems sliding around or peeling on the edges?

If you paid 140,000 for The Turbo S, Porsche would still charge you 1000 for the bumper protection

no problem with peeling or shifting after the first install at all

the material is really soft and sits flat, also the automotive double sided tape works great. keep in mine, this is sitting on top of my "clear bra"

you can do a diy like I did.

looks good, and it doesnt bother me

Merchant,

Your DIY was the thread I was referring to. And may I say you did a fantastic job of it. It looks oem to me. I don't have quite the same faith in my own handiwork but I'm willing to give it a go. How much did you pay for the rubber flooring?

Btw, your Cooper S is awesome. One of my favorite cars ever. Do you still have it?

the material was cheap about ~$15 (http://www.mcmaster.com/#floor-runners/=12nul0) I got a discount because my wife works there.
I actually got luck with cutting it. I did a rough cut with a tracing paper, then trimmed it once I got it on the car.

the Mini is nice (John cooper works), my dad drives it now. fun little car w/a super charger and some mods (big brakes, intercooler , ecu ,etc). it cool also cuz the lisecen plate saids " gokarrt "

I bought the Murano bumper protector a long while ago but never installed it thinking it wouldn't look good on my color. Somebody at the .org did it a while ago. Would look like this:

Looks great. I need a little more coverage though for the 2 dogs. They use the back bumper as a step getting in and out.

Thanks for the info on the materials I will check it out.

ps: EVOtech have a flash for the JCW. Stg2 gains are 44whp/22tq with catback and cai. Around $900 I think.
